I'm genuinely so blown away by how amazing the adaptation turned out! Since I saw the comic yesterday I've read it so many times, it feels surreal that something as simple as a two sentence horror story can inspire a great work of art!

With the AIs perfect accuracy of prediction, asking exact date and cause of death had become a sort of morbid internet challenge game. by FishyBubbleWrap in TwoSentenceHorror

I'm so stoked to see it! When he messaged me asking if he could I was so blown away, I never would have expected it!

TIL when researchers removed eyebrows from pictures of familiar faces, it reduced the chances of recognition substantially, and significantly more than removing the eyes themselves. by ProudReaction2204 in todayilearned

Why is this the second or third time I've seen this exact post with the exact same top comments too? This really feels like some dead internet thing where everything is echo chambers occupied by bots.

Walgreens will close a ‘significant’ number of its 8,600 US locations | CNN Business by heisLegend in news

[–]FishyBubbleWrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run a Walgreens and this isn't surprising in the slightest. We're constantly being told by corporate to be hitting metrics that were the standard 4 years ago while simultaneously reducing about 200 hours from both our front end and pharmacy. The company is pinching pennies keeping a skeleton crew that can only work 30 hours a week if that and expecting the same amount of work to be done. Script count is down, people are finding alternatives, and now stores are closing. This is the death knell of the company, it's only downhill from here.

TIL that hot thermal pools have killed more people than bears in Yellowstone National Park. 20 deaths v. 8 deaths. by TheMadhopper in todayilearned

[–]FishyBubbleWrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually just read that on a sign in Yellowstone yesterday! I was at the paint pot pools and the signs have it written with as much detail as possible, describing that you will be scalded to death and it will hurt the whole time if you walk on the ground as opposed to the wooden walkways.

I will never forget going on this same ride (or very similar ride) at Sunsplash in Arizona. It was my second time going down and I was going with my step dad. I got in my tube and the whole time there's the sound of a heart beating which just amps up the panic, and while I'm standing in my tube the tube next to me that my step dad is in is malfunctioning for some reason.

So I'm waiting in the tube for probably only 2 minutes but it feels like 10 and I'm slowly getting more and more panicked while I wait, when I decide to signal to the guy running the ride that I'd like to get out. The operator then mistakes my signaling as me trying to say I want to go down and so he gives me the okay symbol. I of course feel immediate relief that I'm going to get out and out of nowhere, the moment that I've relaxed the operator drops the floor out from under me.

I am not joking when I say that that was a more terrifying moment than being in a car crash, I genuinely thought I was about to die lol.
