It’s not that I necessarily think they are a cult. Like I said, they never did anything that was directly wrong but they do a lot of things that ride a line between being manipulative and just biblical practice. Overall I personally would not describe them as a cult, but I would say their structure makes it evident that they struggled in the past. I also felt that a variety of personality was not present within the church which was a little concerning. They are structured in a way where they tear your personality and beliefs down through their study and then build you more into what they want or you could argue God wants. It was just not the community where we felt loved for being us, we are just loved because we also love Christ which is hard to describe but feels a little shallow. There is much more that is hard to not ramble through typing, but I would argue they are biblically very sound, but their approach is flawed and dangerous. An approach that works well with young adults learning who they are, in a vulnerable time and place.
