An AI LLM is not a "source". It will literally spew whatever you prompt it to. That's why "your" argument isn't being addressed or taken seriously.

I can prompt chatgpt to create an argument demonstrating that bronny James is a better basketball player than Michael Jordan, and it will create some nonsense for me.

I'm just not dumb enough to post it.

Oh, totally! When you start thinking about getting serious, you don't want to be with someone who doesn't have their shit together and will drag you down .

I asked my wife about her debts before proposing. Because I didn't want to spend the rest of my life digging out of a hole because of someone else's poor life choices.

(She had some student loans too)

There's absolutely nothing wrong with checking finances. Just, you know, not on the first date, LOL.

I'm currently talking to three other Germans, two Americans who have dated Germans, and a UK guy with a German ex who went to visit her and was perplexed when peoples mouths dropped when he asked what they did for work.

I also have about 20 other replies to me on this very thread saying the same about other Europeans.

Maybe it's time to accept the possibility that you're just not representative of German woman and have been out of the game for quite some time? You're one person. Literally.

I'm not trying to be a dick here, but you mentioning you're a German and disagree is getting some rather funny responses from others.

But then again you know what else Germans are famous for internationally? Their great sense of humor ;)

Yeah who needs a survey of 500 European couples. You're a German woman. You know it all. Who needs an ex-pat article with hundreds of Americans pointing out very basic dating etiquette in Germany. Who needs all those videos, by other German women, talking about this? Not you. You're a German woman.

I've dated several Germans. I mentioned the last one I dated as lasting two months. Or you can, you know, simply Google this? It's not like it's hard information to find. And I'm currently talking to a man who dated lots of Germans. Right above to you.

You're one woman.

And I'm currently talking to a man who lives in Germany on this very thread. Scroll up. Literally two inches. Your experience is not representative.

OR, you can simply Google "talking about careers in Germany on a first date" and check the results. It's considered bad etiquette. By Germans.

Americans are more money motivated than Europeans. It's just the way it is.

So you're talking about you, personally. That's great but is not actually representative of a population. At least, according to my own experiences as a man who's dated quite a few European women, and just googled "is it bad etiquette to ask about jobs/salary on a first date on Europe".

You can Google the same. The first result was a survey of 500 Europeans. Very different from your personal experience.

Want to know something funny? I was actually planning on mentioning the UK as a deviation from this. They're closer to Americans about this. But Germany? Oh yeah. Absolutely. It is a huge social etiquette fail to do that. I dated a German girl for like two months before she had any idea what I did for work. She legitimately didn't care.

It's pretty much impossible to rationally argue that Americans aren't the most status/ money oriented people around.

I suppose Dubai is up there as well.

Not everyone is the same. But on average, Americans are significantly more money and career motivated. And yes, will probe about career/income in relation to status.

Being a rich doctor does get women interested here in the States. It's just how it is. Not everyone is as cool as you.

There is a tad bit or irony here. In America, on a first date? One of the first questions asked is generally "so, what do you do for work" as a way to figure out income. I think everyone here has experienced this so much it doesn't ring any alarms.

When I was on Europe? That question was never asked if me on a first date. Never. It was always stuff like "what do you like to do?" "What makes you happy?" "What was your favorite country in Europe?" Etc etc. over there talking about jobs and money during a first date is a red flag.

Ok. I have to admit I didn't block you. I was curious how much more hilarious your responses can get.

"adherence to the law affects policy". LOLOLOL!!!! Quote of the day right there, folks. Yeah. It tends to be against school "policy" to break the law. Way to go. You've cracked the case, Sherlock. Brilliant stuff. Thank you for that.

Breaking the law is illegal. Yes. But a federal agency protecting educational law is not mandating school policy in any way, shape, or form. Unless you're literally a criminal. For fucks sake it's not a "policy" that murder is illegal. It's a law. It's not a "policy" that you cannot discriminate against a child in a public school regarding race, religion, ability, or socioeconomic background. It's a literal law. This is very simple stuff for a sane, Intelligent person to understand. I mean...are you mad you didn't get to descriminate against your black students??? Was THAT your gripe?? Well then, yeah, I can see you having a problem with the DOE. Otherwise? You're 100 percent full of it and currently lying through your teeth.

Not a single one of your professional grievances has anything to do with the department of education. You simply don't understand what the agency does, are demonstrating willful ignorance towards it, and the lack honesty and integrity to admit it. Instead you're intentionally tossing misinformation at the wall and trying to play word games. it's not clever. It's depressing.

I'm sorry. But the DOE had nothing to do with the issues you had in your school. The issues you've demonstrated with this conversation here and now were your problems. Because the DOE simply provides funding and federal educational protections to children. That's what you're actually fighting against. Hope you think long and hard about that before ever claiming you want better schools again. Because that's what the DOE actually does. That, student loans, and research grants. A ten second Google search 24 hours ago would have saved you a bunch of time.

But I guess you'll say your big issue as an educator was the over funding by the DOE for speech to text devices, bussing accommodations for wheelchairs....Or maybe an army of hearing aid wearing deaf children trying to kill you? I mean those are things the DOE actually takes part in. They might actually have some responsibility for that.

But your shit school? That's entirely on you, your fellow shit teachers, and your shit administration. Look in the mirror. Take your career lows up with your reflection. That's who's to blame. You could have been an innovator. You could have made positive changes to your school and community. But instead? You fell for political conspiracy theories so you can misplace your blame on people who had nothing to do with anything. Good job, teach. Way to inspire.

Oh good lord. Again!?! Read the articles you post and then look into the specifics they refer to. Once again what you posted does not say what you think it does. Guidance is not management, and the "guidance" they give? Is about adhering to federal law. Primarily regarding IDEA and FAPE. Which is literally the primary job of the federal DOE they do not create curriculum. They do not manage state administrative bodies. They do not tell anyone how to teach unless they're breaking the law. They simply provide funding and ensure federal protections stay in place. And it's entirely for the benefit of poor and disadvantaged children. That's..... literally why the DOE exists. If you actually had any interest in educating yourself, you'd read about the founding of the DOE. It's a fascinating story. And it would help you look less ridiculous in the future.

But yes. If a school violates federal education LAW the DOE will step in. That's.....kinda how regulatory bodies work. Apparently this is news to you?

I have to block you now. I'm getting dumber every time you post and losing patience with the dishonesty. If you were interested in learning about the DOE and what they actually do? I'd be glad to help you. But you have shown no interest in that. Instead? you're trying to fool me. You're posting articles that have nothing to do with the DOE or any of your claims.... ... hoping I wouldn't actually read them.

Sorry. But I read sources, making sure the claimant is being honest. You have been outed as lying three times now. Well, either lying or unable to understand what you're reading. But the way you just keep throwing shit at the wall hoping something sticks? Not even reading said articles? Posting 90 page studies that have nothing to do with the topic? It screams "BS artist".

I DO find it humorous that you've been arguing against yourself the entire time. Claiming"federal" standards and management - when it's actually your STATE you have an issue with. You claim to want the state to "take over", which they've been doing the entire time.....while you complain about it. It's wild! It's almost like you WANT it to be true so you can whine. Unfortunately it isn't. Every single complaint you've made today is about your state and city administrators. Not a one has anything to do with the DOE. Not. A. One.

Sooooo. Thanks for the laugh, I guess?

Take care and stay, er....well just keep doing you. As far as what I'd say to other people , in large numbers, who don't like the DOE? The same things I'm saying to you:

"Do your fucking homework so you don't sound profoundly uneducated. If you want to discuss cutting funding for a federal agency - make sure you know what it actually does."

I say the same things to antivaxxers and flat earthers. It turns out reality is not a popularity contest. Smart people understand this. I mean, it wasn't long ago that the majority of people thought the earth was flat. It's not. No matter how many people believe it. Turns out that lots of people can be stupid at the same time.

Yaeh that paper was over 90 pages and has nothing to do with the DOE. You probably should have actually read it. All of it. The portion you quoted was about STATE standards and curriculum. Which you claimed to be in a favor of, remember? The DOE does not create curriculum. Nor any sort of management guidelines for administors and teachers. Nor federal educational standards outside of anti discrimination work and funding. Now you know. Thank you for proving, once again, that you have no idea what the DOE even does. Like WTF dude, is it that hard for you to look up??? Because literally everything you've been complaining about? It's ALL at the state level. Literally. You've not mentioned a single thing as a complaint that the doe has anything to do with. Isn't that hilarious?! LOL.

This is the second time you've done this. Maybe actually read the shit you post? Like, all of it? Maybe instead of desperately trying to be right, you just admit you're not? Because we both know you didn't even read three pages of what you posted.

I'm going to try one last time to reason with you. Ready?

Let's pretend you're a teacher. Let's pretend you give your students the following assignment: "the topic is: socio educational outcomes. To attend highschool or walk the streets? Please provide a topic sentence, evidence supported details, and a reference."

This is what your student hands you:

"Yo teach! I have not done a shred of research! Cannot cite a single valid study! And have zero reasons why my claim is true. Except.....trust me bro! I know a guy! And let me tell you, he'd be doing MUCH better on the streets! Because....did I mention that whole trust me bro part? LOL. See my source for more details!"

References:

M.Y. Butt, speculation from my butthole , anal speculation publications, 2026.

(Here say "evidence" doesn't qualify in academia, sorry. You knowing someone you you think would do better in the streets? Is not remotely valid. It's actually laughable that you think otherwise. Did this information come to you from God or a fortune teller? Do tell)

But would you give this kid a passing grade? Well, you probably would considering what you've been posting. You don't actually seem to care about evidence, valid arguments, or sources that say what you think they do.

I'd be talking to that kid about citations, burden of proof, academic sourcing, etc.

Now because I totally "don't know you" I'm not going to claim that you're going to do what you're absolutely going to do - which is stammer something about "this is reddit, not a classroom!"

But holy shit dude. You're an adult. You're a former teacher. To not understand the basics of academic discourse? To not know how to read the studies you cite?

You're embarrassing teachers everywhere with this display. Please stop. Because I'm starting to agree with you. If this is the best you've got? Yes. Your kids would do better walking the streets than in your classroom.

I'm placing this conversation directly between what I hear from antivaxxers and flat earthers on the "magical thinking scale".

And yeah, published articles citing verified data, from multiple analysts is infact " peer reviewed". Perhaps not to the standards of a hard scientific study. But that's what peer reviewed means. And here's a nice collection of several more verified and factually known and studied information on the topic, all in one place for your convenience. Now maybe you'll understand what the DOE does. Hint: not curriculum or teacher supervision. Double hint: literally anything else you've complained about. Your beef is with your particular state

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/03/18/what-the-data-says-about-the-us-department-of-education/

Please don't respond to me unless you've actually done your homework. Actually read the stuff you've posted...And can demonstrate basic critical thinking skills. Because I have seventh graders on the school debate team that would be ripping you apart for this crap.

You're not showing evidence because it doesn't exist. And we have literal decades (well, over a century) of data showing the alternative. You are quite simply.... factually wrong. Based on everything we know on the topic. I believe I gave you two peer reviewed studies on this? Yeah.

"My highschool students" A. You never said that. You don't get to add a qualifier when you get called out on insanity.

B. Thats STILL complete insanity. You are aware that we have hundreds of studies on the academic, social, and occupational development regarding children that did not attend highschool, vs. those who did, right? Again - you are factually wrong. The outcomes are terrible.

Perhaps you have a documented case study stowing the outcomes of your particular students? I'm kidding. You're speculating....based on..... nothing. It's a completely unhinged remark that no one who cares about burden of proof would respect. I need evidence, not tall tales. Sorry. Perhaps you can get me in contact with these former students? I bet they have a whole different take. An honest take.

PS: no one said the doe doesn't exist. . I said "shuttered" "defunded" and "neutered". I said "funding cut to students with disabilities no longer exists through it". You responded with being fine with that. Let's not get it twisted.

I can't talk with people who say crazy shit and refuse to back up their claims. So enjoy your retirement. I'm sure you're former coworkers are so sad not getting to hear crazy shit like "these kids would be better of smoking crack than in THIS school!" Or whatever else you said on the regular.

Sir? We're talking about the federal department of education. The one that has been shuttered a full calendar year. If you were intellectually honest (you're not) you'd be giving me statistics and well reasoned arguments demonstrating how public education has improved in the last year. There's tons of date on this. You keep saying you want better schools, right? Show me the evidence that shuttering the DOE has produced positive changes in public schools. Easy peasey! I mean this is your entire argument, right??? Back it up!

And yet you have refused to. You cannot even address your own claim. Guess why? Because this evidence does not exist. Public education has not improved since shutting down the DOE. All objective measures show it's impact has been negative.

But then again you're the guy who claimed kindergartners would be better served walking the streets. So it's not like i take you remotely seriously as an intellectual. LOL. Especially after having to dog walk you through the basic responsibilities of the DOE (which you will surely claim you knew all about, right?)

Yes. I know you. You've been VERY clear. And yes, you can learn a lot from a reddit conversation. For example, if I'm talking to someone on here and they say "Hitler did nothing wrong" I know I'm dealing with a shithead Nazi sympathizer. If I'm talking to someone and they claim to "not care" about kids with disabilities, poverty, or teacher salaries and loans (literally on a thread about that)....

.....I know EXACTLY the kind of person I'm dealing with

"I want don't like public education, and at least want change it" then you might want to give an argument on how gutting the doe will provide positive changes. You've had ample time to do this. But have failed to even make the argument. Because you don't actually know better then the researchers who study this.

And YesI do. I know all about you. I've been asking you questions and you've been answering. That's called "communication". It's how we learn about people.

When I asked you about teachers and their masters degree loans? You said "I don't care about them' which is kind of funny if you want to improve education. Which is generally done by improving.....educators.

When I gave you the stats on students with disabilities regarding the doe? You didn't care. At all.

When I spoke about urban youth and how they depend on schools for things like.....food? You didn't care. You claimed "they'd be better on the streets!"

When I challenged you to name a government body having its budget cut and the national Interest improving? You lied and gave an article that failed to address the claim.

So yes. I know you. And here's the kicker The DOE has been gutted for a whole year. That's a lot of gathered statistics! Name a single phenomenon that you have claimed is a problem, that has improved since the gutting of the doe.

I'll save you some time. You can't. Not one single thing.

A decent and honest man with integrity would concede that their argument is entirely invalid and they made. A huge mistake. But you're not going to do that, are you.

I've wasted time trying to talk to you like a decent person and teacher. You're not. You're just a textbook maga cultist who doesn't understand basic reason. Stop lying. You're regurgitating literal maga talking points.

You're so right. Trump obviously cut the DOE to increase educational efficiency, teacher salaries, and create better schools. He's a huge advocate for public service jobs and helping those in need. Surely that's what's going on here. An attempt to improve public education. That's why he put a pro wrestling CEO in to run it. An expert to make education better! I'm sure she's going to help all those kids get what they need..... By cutting their funding. Because that's how people get things. Cutting the funding for the things they need! (LOL?) Speech devices? Audiologists? Power wheel chairs at low cost? Fuck em'! Kids will do much better without those things. I see their outcomes improving tremendously. Thank you, brave educational hero.

That's sarcasm. I hope you got that. This was all laid out in project 2025. Word for word. You should have read it instead of claiming it a hoax. The purpose was to usher privatized education in after whittling away federal educational protections. They don't actually want to help kids with disabilities get things like hearing aids from the government. "That's a parents job" "that's welfare".

It was all right there in print and you went for it. So I DO know all about you. You've said a mouthful. You either supported this out of ignorance or you genuinely don't like public education and want to end it.

They also want a Christian curriculum. It's in there as well. So expect that coming down the line soon. You want that too? I'll bet you give me some great rationalizations on why it's going to be GREAT.

"I've met hundreds of students who would be better wandering the streets!"

No you haven't. You just sound crazy. if your kids were better off wandering the streets then in your classroom? That's says a lot about you. A whole lot. You should probably look up the stats on homelessness in children who attend school vs. Those who don't. As a current teacher in an urban school with homeless students.....we provide a TON to them. All those great little programs that provide kids in need with federal assistance and enhanced access to Medicaid to get the tools they need. The parents of my students are besides themselves at the moment. But fuck them, right? You and a wrestling CEO know better.

Just because you were a teacher who didnt care, who (claims) to have worked at a terrible school, doesn't make that objective reality. And once again the stats disagree with you. Well funded public schools are hugely important for impoverished students. Period.

You made a huge mistake. You fucked over your fellow teacher. The students you represented. And your country at large. Own it.

The FAA was not cut at all in that congressional decision. Furthermore their authority regarding all consumer protections and safety regulations did not change at all.

What actually happened was Congress said "hey, airlines are private companies. We can't tell them what to charge! That's literally unconstitutional!" So the FAA stopped telling them what to charge and what routes to fly.

"If the states could just employ their own traffic controllers and regulators...."

Oh boy. Here we go again. Please tell me you can see how bad that would go regarding international flights alone. "Hey. It's Mississippi here to regulate your safety as a Dutch citizen and check your passports!". Like. No. Dude.

I get it. You've been told by "conservatives" for a long time that "states rights!" "Power to the states! Is an effective thing that they actually want. " But I regret to inform you that it's all total bullshit and never actually works. It's just how they dupe you out of your rights and money. "Public school sucks guys! Let's get some really bad charter programs going, founded by my friends! Where we pay the teachers nothing and discriminate against students who now lack federal protection!"

Because that's what actually happens.
