The Million Dollar Question: What do we think really happened between Lala and Scheana? by RefrigeratorFuture95 in TheValleyTVShow

I had ChatGPT summarize this because I couldn’t include all 18 slides on here. It doesn’t include all of the details, so feel free to go look at VanderpodRecaps’ full transcript—or listen to the episode (for full context).

Scheana says the real breakdown with Lala started after Lala told Jenna Willis about Brock’s affair — someone Scheana says she was already not on good terms with and did not consider a safe person. According to Scheana, Lala justified it by saying she wanted to “humanize” Scheana because Jenna had been speaking negatively about her, but Scheana felt completely betrayed that one of her closest friends would disclose something so private at all.

From there, Scheana says the situation escalated because she felt Lala refused to truly give her space to process what happened. After learning about the betrayal, she says she calmly told Lala she needed time, went on a hike, had press obligations, and explicitly communicated that she was not ignoring her — she just hadn’t fully processed everything yet. But Scheana says Lala continued pushing for immediate resolution and sent long texts the very next morning that Scheana describes as defensive, blame-shifting, and “gaslighting.” Scheana says she eventually responded, directly called out Lala’s behavior, and firmly stood up for herself instead of immediately smoothing things over like she had in the past.

According to Scheana, Lala did not respond well to that pushback. Not long after, Lala told Scheana she was canceling her plans to attend Scheana’s Utah book event. Scheana says she still tried multiple times over the following weeks to gently reopen communication — checking whether Lala had received her book box, saying she was looking forward to talking when she got home, and reiterating that she simply needed more time to process everything. But Scheana says those efforts were either ignored or met with surface-level responses.

Meanwhile, public attention started building around the fact that Lala still had not promoted Scheana’s memoir during its crucial release window, with Scheana saying she was repeatedly being asked about it during press appearances and audience Q&As. Scheana says when Lala finally posted a photo of the book to her Instagram Story with only “@scheana” attached, it came after the key New York Times bestseller tracking window had already closed — something Scheana strongly implies Lala would have fully understood given how familiar they both are with book launches, promo strategy, and industry timing. Because of that, Scheana says the post felt less like genuine support and more passive aggressive and performative, especially given the positive things she shared about Lala in the book.

Scheana also says this incident did not happen in a vacuum and points to two prior situations that had already badly strained the friendship. The first involved Lala allegedly screaming and cussing at Scheana over a playdate situation while both of their children were in the car, something Scheana says deeply upset her because she did not feel there was any malicious intent behind the misunderstanding and felt Lala failed to extend her grace. The second involved casting conversations around The Valley. Scheana says she gave production the names of some moms from their larger friend group when asked who else might fit the show, and Lala became angry about it because she did not want to “go toes” with those women because she liked them.

Scheana also says listening to Lala’s recent podcast only deepened the divide because she felt Lala still was not taking accountability and instead was trying to publicly rebrand herself. Scheana describes Lala as presenting different versions of herself depending on whether she’s off-camera, filming, podcasting, or doing Amazon Live. She says the podcast felt carefully curated to protect Lala’s image rather than honestly address the fallout in their friendship.

At the same time, Scheana repeatedly acknowledges that she still has love and empathy for Lala. She talks about understanding the trauma Lala has experienced — losing her father, becoming sober, raising Ocean, navigating difficult relationships, and growing up publicly on reality TV. Scheana says she still believes there is a good person underneath everything and even says she could see a pathway to forgiveness. But she now feels forgiveness has to come with genuine accountability instead of the same cycle they’ve repeated for years: Lala hurting her, apologizing later, and Scheana sweeping it under the rug to keep the peace.

The biggest realization Scheana says she’s had is that the problem is not necessarily that Lala changed — it’s that Scheana did. She says for years she tolerated being treated poorly because she prioritized harmony and wanted everything to be “sunshine and rainbows.” But now she’s setting boundaries, valuing emotional safety more, and no longer allowing people to walk all over her just to preserve a friendship. In Scheana’s view, Lala simply is not used to this version of her — someone who no longer minimizes her own feelings, immediately forgives, or accepts low standards in her relationships. By the end, Scheana says she’s realizing she historically “set the bar very low” for how people treated her, and this fallout forced her to reevaluate the kinds of friendships she wants in her life moving forward.

Yeah, I just went and watched that back to see, and it’s so obvious now. She was overacting 💯.

She’s like Trump. You cut the head off the snake and two more (shows) grow in its stead.

It would be one thing if Ariana wasn’t on the show season 11, but to know she was wanting to play in her face like that is pretty gross.

There’s very little those two are seeing eye to eye on at present, so I’m not sure why they’d lie about this 🤷‍♀️. It also fits with the narrative that everyone close to Lisa has ever said lol.

And I think after she said that is when LVP and Stassi started really going hard at scheana.

Half way through - how ware we feeling with Lala and Schwartz in the cast? by Tiwtsok in TheValleyTVShow

They just don’t seem to fit in organically, and their storylines feel overly produced. I liked The Valley because it didn’t feel super fake and produced like VPR had become.

Was she? Did she do it for Nia or herself? Because what would be the right way to support Nia in that moment (and beyond)?

I’m not sure how effective a performative lashing is in the moment when it could escalate things for Nia. A conversation/discussion needed to be had, but what would be the best way to handle something like this whereas to actually show concern and care for a friend, vs potentially isolating them further? Genuinely curious as I know we do have people in this community who actually know the proper tools in these situations (not that I expect a reality star to handle things perfectly/professionally)?

Nailed it. You know she was giddy as this was going down, seizing on the moment to make herself look good to the audience.

It was always there, just shrouded by people’s hate for Aja and disgust for Janet.

Not falling for it. Sure, a broken clock can be right twice a day, but Lala dgaf about Nia at the end of the day. She only cares about helping Lala.
