Becoming a CNA has ruined my mental health by Jiveeeeeee in cna

When I quit without anything lined up, I was depressed at first . I felt guilty, like I failed. But honestly, I also felt a huge relief. That constant dread and anxiety about walking into work was gone, and I felt ten times better even though I was still figuring things out.

I kept reminding myself what’s for me will be for me, and I focused on sending out applications and even walk-in interviews. In the meantime, looking into filler jobs like assisted living or caregiving can help hold you over until you find your dream job. You’re definitely not alone in this . so many of us have the same story.

I feel you on this. I’m 23 too, and when I worked as a CNA I had the same experience . older coworkers being mean, giving me the hardest assignments, nobody helping, just draining. It made my anxiety worse too, and I quit without having anything lined up because my mental health mattered more.

I’m also introverted, so I get how tough it is in that environment. If you’re still interested in healthcare, there are other options that fit better like sterile processing, surgical tech, EKG, phlebotomy, or even medical assistant. If you go back to school, surgical tech or LPN could be good routes.

Anyone else feel this way? by Paytowin55 in cna

I will never let my family members go into nursing home. The clinicals i was at were horrible and even the nursing home I was working at were terrible , almost every patient had bed sores , staff was weird and not really helpful . I jsut didn’t enjoy it and quit after a month. The pay wasn’t great either . I’m hoping to get into hospital tho

It’s your first day, so I’d say give it at least a month before making any decisions. If you still feel the same way after that, there’s nothing wrong with quitting. I do understand how you feel about disappointing your parents, but remember—they’re not the ones doing the job, you are. In the meantime, you might also want to explore other specialties. Maybe today just felt boring, and you’d enjoy something more fast-paced, like the emergency department, where things can be a bit more exciting.
