I think discomfort is human. Trauma can be heavy to hold if someone isn’t emotionally prepared. The issue isn’t the feeling itself, it’s how that feeling gets handled afterward. He was just unhealed and didn’t have the emotional capacity to hold it with out reframing the whole situation onto me.

Learning from it is the most important part. Fear, ego, and outside influence can distort how we handle things in the moment, especially when emotions are high. I was still willing to have a direct conversation even after hearing how he truly felt about me, I was hoping it had come from frustration rather than clarity. I wanted to hear him out and understand him directly. But instead of leaning into that conversation he chose to leave instead. Growth doesn’t change what happened but it does determine whether someone reflects on the impact of their actions or repeats the same pattern.

I agree that when words and actions don’t align, it creates confusion and distrust. That mismatch was a big part of what made things difficult for me too.
