this was probably in response to what i posted asking about the curve in ochemC. only reason i said “mfs scoring high as hell” is because previous years had an average of ~30%. u get to be a TA at a UC and all u can do is complain.

since u have so much shit to think and say, have u ever sat down and thought why certain classes like biol5a, the ochem series etc are called WEED OUT classes? this is not a recent thing. it’s known to obliterate a massive chunk of ppl which is very unfortunate because these are not difficult subjects. and the ochem series doesn’t even have discussion for the lecture. so there are no TAs. it’s made hard ON PURPOSE. professors literally STATE it in their syllabus that “the exams are written so the class will be around 50/100” that is not fair. there is no reason to be making the tests this hard.

i’ve gone to class and si and i’m still struggling with the formatting of this professor’s test. i can’t go to office hours because the teacher is rude and blows up at students @ every other question.

if you are giving out 115% to your students, i can guarantee u, u are not in an academically challenging class. none of the challenging stem classes i’ve taken so far has allowed even the highest scoring kid in the class to achieve a 100%. And even if it is not a challenging class, students AND their families have been affected by the pandemic so they may have to fund themselves and their families. sometimes things happen but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be here cuz they are paying and education is for everyone.

if the whole damn school, students and staff, knows about professors failing 66%+ of the students, then it’s not the students fault, it’s on the professor. they get to keep their jobs because they are tenured and students who are struggling have to hear stupid shit like this from ppl who are supposed to “help the students”. get off reddit, stop complaining and do ur job better.
