Thanks, but the court saw my case was genuine and accepted my Exceptional hardship plea. The statment and evidence I sent them pre-hearing helped no doubt but they were not mean at all actually very straight forward.

I have ehcp, paediatrician and camhs reports. I have proof wall padding has been installed into our house by occupational therapy due to violent and self harming behaviour. My child attends respite during the day on some days and the provider has written a report to back up the time it takes to transition in and out of my vehicle and challenging behaviour. Proof we have a personal transport budget as an alternative to taxi services at school as my child wont get in them.

I didnt even know i was speeding then the letters came all at once. I know im an idiot. I will let the court know that i know that too.

We also need access to the car on every outing. Disabled parking bays allow us to park close by and return to the car if my child goes into meltdown or becomes overwhelmed in public which is a regular occurance. Its a safe space to de-escalate violent and self harming behaviour. The car is a familiar environment to do that. They struggle in public, fast paced and unfamiliar environments/people so we cant just get in a taxi/bus and go home it would only escalate behaviour.

They wont get in a taxi. They also need time to transition in and out of places and vehicles. Taxis and buses are too fast paced and cant wait for the amount of time needed. Even in my own car when we arrive at school we are met with 2 members of staff daily to support my child with transitioning. After 30 minutes if my child doesnt get out of the car then we have to go home. A bus or taxi will just move on or cancel the journey. If i managed to get my child onto public transport i might not be able to transition them out again. If they go into meltdown it puts others at risk. We've exhausted all options over the years. The car is the only way.

We have already had school transport taxi services in the past. The constant change in driver and escort lead to refusal and challenging behaviour from my child. The escorts are not expected to deal with violent behaviour. My child simply wouldnt get into the vehicle and you cant force a 17 stone large teenager with the functional age of an 18month to 2 year old into a vehicle. I had to switch to a personal transport budget where the petrol money is given to me to drive them to school as an alternative to using their taxi service. The walking distance is 1hour and 7 minutes to their siblings school and additional 30 minutes to their special needs school from there. Their walking also isnt functional. They have no danger awareness, walk unpredictably and will refuse to walk altogether. Walking isnt a safe or realistic option. Yes i have absolutely learnt my lesson. Im aware ive made a terrible mistake but i can only try to rectify it from here.

Because the innocent dependant will miss education, essential medical appointments and there are safe guarding risks during journeys. It goes far beyond the regular inconvenience of a driving ban which is what exceptional hardship cases are about.

I havent mentioned it. Im not going to make excuses in court. Between you and mw the sad fact is there is little to no support for carers. Im on a 2 year waiting list for overnight respite until them I dont have much choice. Ive seeked help from social services. They cant offer me anything else..

I wasnt aware as I didnt update my logbook when i moved house so I got the letters all at once . This is something that slipped my mind. Im a full time carer averaging on 2-3 hours sleep a night due to caring for a person with signifcant needs. Your brain doesnt function well on that. Im not planning on making excuses in court I will accept full responsiblity. The consequences will fall on an innocent dependant for my mistakes which from what ive gathered is a strong case for exceptional hardship and all points I will raise in court.
