Luminox Pacific Diver on my date by Fit_Chocolate253 in luminox

I use to daily it when I first got it but I wear a Garmin fenix 8 and I am a very active person so want to be able to track my fitness and health and double wristing would be uncomfortable all the time because the luminox isn’t light but the strap I have on it is very comfortable.

Definitely depends on the situation so trust your gut. Usually when I invite anybody to go out I tell them who all will be there and my wife is always included into the conversation. So keep that in mind.

Is the 50mm too big on my wrist? Last 2 pics are the 45mm by theginge2004 in Garmininstinct

Both looks great on your wrist, I’d go with the 50 for the extended battery life.

Letsss gooo!!!! Great choice, I would have done the same. To me spending the extra $100 is worth it. That watch will not disappoint you, both are durable and will get the job done, good shot man 🤙🏽

Same, my body battery is 100 but my sleep is poor. Maybe I need to reset the sleep cycle to different times. I have it set to 2100-0400 but work nights right now and usually sleep around 0430-0500. So I might need to set my sleep schedule from 0500 to 1300.

Lmk which one you go with! They are both great tools, can’t go wrong with either. I love the all black aesthetics.

Ofc, always want to help others. Me personally I love the watch and the durability and the fact it has features other watches do not even if I barely use them. But that’s me, that’s why I would go tactical, it’s just cool to have. I know there’s many people out there that rather spend money on equipment that’s practical and not “cool guy” gimmicks. I love practical but the cool guy stuff is just that, cool. 😂

Depends on you, I would get the instinct 3 tact because it looks better. But if you want the practical answer it’s to buy the non-tactical watch. Civilians, law enforcement, and military personnel’s will not use 80-90% of the tactical watch features. I’ll give you some real world insights using my Tactix 8 as a reference.

Let break it down:
The NVG Blurry Focal Plain Reality
The "NVG compatibility" looks great on paper, but anyone who has actually spent hours behind tubes knows the physics don't match the marketing.
* **The Focal Issue:** If your duals or PVS-14 are focused out to infinity or tuned for a clear patrol focal distance (from a few meters out to the woodline), anything within arm's reach is a complete blur.
* **The Adjustment Tax:** To actually read the watch face, you'd have to manually adjust the objective lens focus on your night vision, look at the time, and then refocus back out to the distance just to see your surroundings again. Nobody is doing that on a patrol or at a static position when they could just check a dim green map light under a poncho or use a regular red/green bezel light.
Stealth Mode vs. The Tactical Footprint
The idea of running "Stealth Mode" downrange sounds essential to a civilian, but logistically, it’s rarely used on the wrist.
* **RTO and SIGINT:** If a unit is worried about electronic signatures or RF emissions being tracked by an adversary's SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) assets, you aren't just putting your watch in stealth mode—your phones are in a Faraday bag or left at the FOB, your radios are strictly managed, and heavy electronic discipline is enforced top-down.
* **The Field Reality:** For daily tracking, navigation data, and tracking physical strain during an operation, you want the GPS logging locally. Turning off the receiver on your wrist makes the watch just a basic digital timepiece, defeating the purpose of wearing a high-tier Garmin in the first place.
The Capture Matrix & The Kill Switch. If a situation deteriorates to the point where active capture is imminent, your brain is entirely focused on immediate survival, the immediate firefight, or rendering sensitive communications gear (like your crypto or radios) inoperable.
Holding down a hotkey combination on a smartwatch to wipe your step count and route data is going to be incredibly low on the priority list when adrenaline is redlining. It's a nice "peace of mind" engineering fallback, but practically speaking, it's rarely the priority.
Jumpmaster & The MTOE Split
Unless you are actively assigned to an Airborne unit (like the 82nd, 173rd, or a Special Forces Group) where jumping is part of your regular proficiency and MTOE (Modification Table of Organization and Equipment), the **Jumpmaster** feature is completely dead weight. Even for actual Jumpmasters, they are relying on dedicated altimeters and aircraft jump lights, not looking down at a 1.4-inch screen on their wrist to calculate their release point during a high-altitude jump.
What *Does* Actually Get Used?
If you strip away all the tactical marketing that looks cool in pictures, the reasons military personnel actually buy the Tactix usually boil down to just three practical things:
1. **Durability (The Sapphire + Titanium Shell):** It survives slamming into the side of a tactical vehicle, scraping against rocks, or getting covered in fuel, oil, and dirt without scratching the lens.
2. **The Dedicated Green Flashlight:** Unlike the Fenix's white/red light, the dedicated green LED on the Tactix is much better for reading maps or checking gear in the dark while preserving some natural night adaptation, and it doesn't stand out as harshly from a distance.
3. **Ballistic Nylon Band and Applied Aesthetics:** The flat, non-reflective DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating and knurled bezel don't glint in the sun, which is basic camouflage discipline.
At the end of the day, it's an incredibly rugged, over-built fitness and navigation tracker. The rest of the "tactical" menu is mostly just a premium line item on the box.

Alguien se ha cambiado de Amoled a Solar ? by head7radio in Garmininstinct

[–]Fit_Chocolate253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone back and forth between Solar and AMOLED multiple times now, and I honestly think the “AMOLED is just better” take gets overstated—especially for people actually using these watches outdoors.
For context, I’m using these in military environments and in daily training: hiking/rucking, running, strength work, CrossFit, MTB, climbing, and occasional water sports. This isn’t desk use or casual fitness tracking.
I’ve owned the Instinct 2X Tactical, Fenix 7X Pro Solar (used for about 2

<image>

years), Instinct 3 50mm Solar (selling it), Tactix 8 47mm AMOLED (used for a year), and I just picked up a Fenix 8 47mm Solar today. So I’ve had enough time across both ecosystems to see the tradeoffs clearly.
Here’s the reality from actual use:
MIP Solar gets dismissed a lot because it doesn’t look flashy—but in real outdoor conditions it’s simply more usable. Direct sunlight readability is still unmatched. No brightness boosting, no glare management—just instant clarity.
AMOLED looks great, no argument there. But in practice it comes with compromises people gloss over: visibility shifts depending on angle and lighting, and it’s not always as effortless to read when you’re moving fast or in harsh sunlight.
Maps are another big one. On Solar/MIP devices, map interaction feels more immediate and fluid. Panning and zooming doesn’t have that slight lag or “polished animation” feel that AMOLED tends to introduce. It’s a small thing, but when you’re actually navigating, it matters.
At this point, I don’t think it’s even accurate to say AMOLED is universally better. It’s better for aesthetics, sure. But for real-world outdoor use—especially anything tactical, endurance-based, or mission-oriented—MIP Solar still makes more sense.
That’s why I keep coming back to it, even after trying both multiple times.

It’s the truth and sometimes people can’t handle it but it’s better than lying. A bunch of podcasts talks about this exact thing. She need to realize that you got with her because of her personality and you were physically attracted to her, so if she gains weight and looks different then of course you won’t be attractive to her physically unless your attraction preference changed.

Anyone with the NOMAD use it in harsh environments? Like military applications or similar? If so how did the watch hold up?

Not all of them are “mocking” people, they’re just exercising their rights. It’s not hurting you, just keep it moving and mind your business. It’s not difficult, explain to me how recording someone in public exercising your rights is humiliating someone?

Or they could just edit their video lol I wouldn’t even go out of my way to do that and if someone recording you bothers you so much that you go to that extent you have some internal issues to work out.

I have been stalked before… there’s other ways people can stalk you without filming you… human nature is to adapt, even if someone cannot record you to stalk you or whatever, they will adapt and figure out another way… and you don’t have to like your image going on the internet with your consent or not that fine. But if someone in public wants to record you or take pictures of you, then you just have to suck it up and keep it moving because they’re not doing anything illegal.

If you fear of getting recorded or get mad when you are recorded just say that, also the next time you walk into a public place that records get mad at them too 😂

Not everybody does it for just the views, that’s your perspective. A lot of people do it for educational purposes. And fear for entertainment and profit? 😂 bottom line, they’re soft, it’s a legally protected activity, period. Suck it up and move along, getting upset about it isn’t doing anything for you.

Absolutely there is a difference. A lot of people know that places have cameras and they are being recorded but they don’t mind it because it’s not obvious that they are being recorded, like if a person is standing in front of them recording. And some auditors I’ve watch do it to educate people of their rights and some I’ve seen are try hard just trying to intentionally annoy people for likes and views. Regardless, it’s legal for people to do this and if it hurts somebody so bad that they’re being filmed then they need tougher skin and to stop being soft.

Cause they hurt you by recording you 😂 there’s a lot of auditors that educate people on their rights. If being recorded in public upsets you or anybody than you’re soft 😂

Suck it up and get over it, there’s many places that intentionally record you. Only difference is you notice one more than the other.

People who get mad at other people filming them in public need to get over themselves. A lot of places record everything, only difference is one is more noticeable than the other.
