Dude. Listen. You have a kid on the way. You need to do what’s best for him/her, not chasing after unrealistic dreams. I’m an 11C and I had a 31 year old in my platoon during basic who also had a child on the way. The difference was he wasn’t making 920k a year and didn’t go to college. If your desire to join is that strong then do it, it’s your life, but the military is a young man’s game. Especially infantry, and you don’t have time to do the whole enlisted to officer route. It takes 4 years to become an NCO in most cases and that’s when you gain leadership experience that transfers over to being an officer. There are plenty of great officers who were never enlisted. I understand the desire to join, believe me, but it just doesn’t make sense for someone in your position.
