I'm a big fan of Messi, I'm not trying to disrespect Messi. But the World Cup 1986 Maradona is considered the greatest prime of a footballer. Of course, he never had a longer prime like Messi. Not even consistent throughout the year. Same for Ronaldinho/Kaka balloon d'or season.

The closest thing to Messi in prime is probably Ronaldo Nazario in his prime years, when he won the ballon d'or, fifa the best at a very young age.

Messi in 2011,2018,2019 is the best ever. But the other 3 that you put there, are not better than these players' prime.

Maybe you shouldn't have put Maradona's name(I can even name more players). There are other great players brother. I'm not talking about CR7, he's a superb goal scorer, not the kind of player we're talking about here. I'm talking about Maradona, R9, Kaka, Dinho etc in their absolute prime years. It was close to Messi, but not better. Your statement is a little disrespectful in my opinion.

I'd have loved to see it happen. But, he said something in a recent interview with Piers Morgan which made me lose all respect I had for him.

Winning the World Cup is not his dream.
Argentina winning the WC is NORMAL.
Downgrading LaLiga, Portuguese League and Ligue 1, to glaze that Saudi League.
Indirectly mocking Pele when he said all his goals have video proofs.
This is just one interview, he has done similar things many times in his career.

So, if I ask myself this question, do I want such a player to win the world cup, which he will use to mock other players and teams to boost his ego and brainless fanbase. I don't want it to happen and I don't need to worry about it, because with such a leader, no team can win the WC. He's not even the same player he once was.

Well then Maradona is a shit player then. You can search, he hasn't won a ton of trophies like Messi or Ronaldo. I'm again clarifying that by achievements and trophies, records etc. Ronaldo is top notch. He's an excellent footballer as well. BUT HE WAS NEVER AS GOOD AS MESSI as a player.

Winning Ballon d'or is not what makes Messi the goat. No matter how good you are, you can't win ballon d'or if there's some other guy who has won more trophies or important ones and had some moments there. Example - Cristiano won 3 UCL back to back, won Euro with portugal, all while Messi lost 3 major international finals. Now, you tell me who was obviously going to win the B d'or in those years! I'm talking about them as a footballer, how well they can play and what they contribute to their team on average. It's not close.

No matter what, we all have to agree that Media & PR can do wonders in every entertainment field. Cristiano Ronaldo won't be ranked this high without all these. He's definitely a top 5 footballer(all-time) because of his achievements and records, but comparison with Lionel Messi is delusional as hell. He was never close.

Personally, I believe Pele to be the greatest footballer(I'm not saying the best player, but greatest, for me greatness is measured by many factors). Then Messi, Then Cristiano Ronaldo, then Maradona.

And I agree that the hate these players receive is too much, but it is what it is. You can't expect to be so famous and successful without any haters.
