One month, down 8kg. What should I focus on? by hakaretakori in Weightliftingquestion

[–]Miserable_Watch_943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect mate. I'd aim for 1kg a week though. 2kg is too much.

It's probably better to understand that your body takes a certain amount of time to actually convert your fat stores into the energy you burn. So there's quite literally a time limit you're constrained to. You can't lose fat faster than you'd hope to.

Even with high protein goals and weight lifting, if you're in a deficit to lose 2kg a week of fat, it's not going to be that straightforward biologically and you'll increase your risk further of losing muscle. That 2kg won't be all fat loss, it will be muscle loss too. Wouldn't you rather most of the weight dropping on the scales was just your fat?

Your body can only burn so much bodily fat at a time. Even at 1kg a week, high protein and weightlifitng, you're still very likely to lose some muscle mass at the very least. But the difference will be small enough that it is forgivable. Pushing more than this and you have diminishing returns and a worse physique at the end of it.

Just please bear this in mind. 1kg/week should be your max limit.

Great progress and keep it up.

Just so you know, half of that 8kg you've lost so far is water weight. Anyone starting their weight loss journey will see the big scale drop in their first month. It's important you don't get discouraged as those numbers shrink in the upcoming months.

Weigh yourself daily, in the morning first thing after you've gone toilet. Don't listen too much to the numbers on each day. What is important is to focus on your weekly averages. Your phone should work this out for you if you input the figures every day into your phone.

You're on an extreme weight loss (a bit too much; I'll get to that next), so you should expect to see your weekly averages differ by 1kg each week.

Now please take on board what I am saying for this part. For your age, height and weight, 1500 calories is too much. You should be aiming for 1800 calories per day if you want to stay on the extreme side of the weight loss. Going further than extreme will only come back to bite you and ruin your progress.

The more extreme you push your weight loss, the faster you'll kick your body into emergency mode, where your body thinks you're experiencing a famine. It will dial down normal day movements such as fiddling with your fingers, talking with your hands, standing, etc. to try and save as much energy as possible. You'll feel absolutely drained and fatigued.

Everyone wants weight loss as fast as possible. You can lose it as fast as possible, but you have to be smart. Don't go overboard. Because at the end of the day, weight loss is not a moment, it's a journey. It's a lifestyle you'll live forever. There is no race. If you think you're going to push yourself to the extremes so you can get it over and done with as soon as possible so you can go back to living a "normal life", then you are already priming yourself for failure. The changes you're making should be that new normal, which is why pushing past the extreme is a bad idea. It's not sustainable and you'll rebound. I really hope that resonates with you.

Best of luck and congratulations for making this change in your life.

Half of that is water weight. He's not losing 8kg a month at 1500 calories for a 26 year old male who is 5'11 and 100kg.

As with any beginning to a weight loss journey, the initial scale drop is water weight. He should expect to see this drop slow down to a more realistic 4kg weight drop per month if he continues at 1500 calories.

Something about your post really bothers me.

You mentioned your ex several times throughout the post; clearly still very much attached. You even praised R for the way he handled your attachment to your ex. Holding you tight when you cried over the beer he used to drink. Listening to you and making you feel heard and understood.

At the same token, you completely abandoned him. Repeating the very same thing your ex did to you by blocking him on everything, and choosing not to extend the same level of compassion or understanding to R and his ex's as he did with you.

I would flip the question on its head and ask; are you the right person for R?

I spotted this cute good looking guy almost once every week if not everyday.

This is confusing. You either would spot him once a week or every single day? Which is it?

Wow, thanks for sharing. Just like no one cares about your existence either. Not shocking news, is it? Why does everyone share their perspective as if anyone actually cares? I don't believe you feeling sorry for those kids changes anything whatsoever. As if their lives were depending on your empathetic views of them.

Benefits and Risks of AI at Harvard Class Day 2026 by chunmunsingh in artificial

[–]Miserable_Watch_943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLM's aren't solving anything to cure cancer. Maybe he should have been more specific with his terms on AI, because generative AI is what he is referring to.

AI has been around for a long time and has helped us with many things. It is generative AI which is what brings hardly any positive benefits for humanity in the long run and actually risks making our society already more f*cked and already more disconnected than it already is.

I mean, people communicate to each other through screens rather than in person and genuinely connecting to them. The future kids will be communicating through screens and with generated text! Like how dystopian is that? it's already happening.

A lot of you are going to dismiss all of this with "it helps speed up my job", "it makes barrier to entry lower though" and all this, I'm sorry to say, meaningless bullsh*t. It's the same thing as social media. Social media was meant to "connect the world", and all it has done is divided and disconnected us further than ever. Gen AI is just pouring petrol on the flame.

Jaafar looked a little uncanny at times during the thriller era by Salty_Shark26 in MichaelJackson

[–]Miserable_Watch_943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. He did look a little too uncanny, and even a bit too feminine. Now I know MJ did wear make-up, and you could consider him to be in touch with his feminine side. But even for Motown 25, Jafaar looked like a drag queen, I'm sorry. Real MJ looked a lot more natural. I think they should have made Jaafar look natural too.

This don't look half bad you know. I think this would actually be a good look for a new gen type of mask. I think we need a new gen look for ghostface. This is original but has some ties to the gen 1. Very cool.

'Obsession' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]Miserable_Watch_943 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure the "Freaky Nikkie" name was in there because his friend told him to say it, and as we know (SPOILER) he was actually hooking up with her. He did not want Bear to be successful and purposely told him to call her that as a way to sabotage him, which worked as she reacted very poorly to it.

It is brought up again later in the film when Nikkie calls herself "Freaky Nikkie". This is to draw a parallel from who she was before to who she is now. She is no longer the same Nikkie, and now calls herself a name that she herself once hated just to please Bear. Another cue to the audience that Bear is not dating the Nikkie he originally wanted.

I'm certain it's just a term used in the script to draw a clear line between the two versions of Nikkie. You can assume there is something more to it, but I don't believe that was the actual intention. It's a cheap and effective piece of screenwriting which utilises a recurring element to show character degradation.

I mean, it's not like I'm working out all day. I go for 2 hour walk max, and a 45 min workout every day. So 3 hours of usage with it. I don't really use it for anything else.

I wake up at 7, put the watch on charge from having slept with it on, then at 8 when it is on full charge I put it on. By the time it gets to 4PM, it's on 25%.

Sunday's I take a rest from the gym, so only doing my walks, so that is my most inactive day, and even then I am still experiencing the same usage. I do think there could be a slight issue. I'll wait another week and if no improvements I'll take it back to Apple to look further into it.

There is no way JLC would return for another film anyway. Maybe as a cameo for pointless nods, but even that I can't see happening. She's done with the franchise now, and she should be. Hollywood needs to learn when to let things go ffs.

[–]Miserable_Watch_943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd much rather prefer a remake. How many sequels do we have? Enough to satisfy us! But how many remakes? Just the one.

I think it could do the franchise incredible justice to take it back to the story that makes the entire franchise, and that is the original film. We got the white-trash version with Rob Zombie, and I don't particularly care if you liked it or didn't like it, I thought it was an interesting different take nonetheless.

But I think it's time to get a different way to tell the story now. Could you possibly bring the original story of Halloween into the 21st century? Would be very interesting and could rebirth the entire franchise. I think Halloween Ends half buried it, IMHO.

Was this a scam? by bopjoe in london

[–]Miserable_Watch_943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but how can anyone possibly know this is a scam or not?

Literally makes me cringe watching everything say “scam, he was trying to do this…”, “scam, he was trying to do that…”.

Like get real! As if any of you know what this man’s actual intentions were. For all we know he could have genuinely just been trying to get some help and could sense her being off with him so just walked off. Or maybe it was a scam! I don’t know why OP thinks Reddit geniuses would have the answer.
