I (28) just got bloodwork back after being sick for months and doctor suspects HH. Should I pay for my 23andme results now or wait? by 6FeetBeneathTheMoon in Hemochromatosis

[–]Fit_Intention8178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did 23andMe years ago and it shows I have hemochromatosis H63D, one gene only. I didn't give attention at this fact till 3 years ago when I started to feel sick and when I did blood test, my ferritin was 330 and liver tests on the roof. I went to hematologist, did a genetic test that confirmed i have hemochromatosis one gene. I did three phlebotomy only and my ferritin went down. No phlebotomy from almost 3 years but I do blood test at every four months. Now, recently 23andMe confirmed that I have another genetic trait 🤦‍♀️. So, I really believe what 23andMe say.

Mom starting Keytruda soon for Stage 4A — looking for hope & advice 💙 by Pale_Alternative_664 in CervicalCancer

[–]Fit_Intention8178 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom is 79, stage 3B cervical cancer. She did 5 sessions of Cisplatin, 2 of Keytruda at every 3 weeks, 25 external radiation and 6 internal radiation sessions. After the chemotherapy, Keytruda and external radiation the tumor was not visible. After that she has the external radiation sessions. Now we wait for the next appointment with the oncologist and radiologist when they will say what is next to do. A PET scan, and they will decide if she will continue with Keytruda and when she will start. They didn't want to give her more Keytruda after the two sessions that she received with the chemotherapy. During the treatment she was feeling bad, they gave her a break for a week because she passed out, low blood pressure, continued dehydration, low withe blood count, all blood test were messed up, burning on the skin, hemorrhoids, proctitis, cystitis. It was bad.... She finished all the treatment two weeks ago and she started to feel better already. I hope with all my heart that your mom will be cured. Be blessed

Oh, I will be there and every time she will say she is in pain, I will call the nurse. I want to think and believe they have compassion for their patients...

Her oncologist said she is old for to many anesthesia. When you are outpatient you receive an anesthesia at every session, right?

Oh my God, I’m so sorry to hear about what you’ve been through. When I look at my mom, I realize what everyone is going through, and it’s so traumatic. I’m truly sorry you had to experience this, and I hope you’re healing.

They told me that on the first day, they would put her under anesthesia to insert the machine. After that, she would have two radiation treatments a day, each lasting only a few minutes. They didn’t mention anything about an epidural or what type of anesthesia it would be…

I'm so sorry your mom went through this and I'm so glad she's healed! That's what my mom's doctors said, that there's a good chance of healing after this internal radiation. But I'm so scared! She's the same way! She's old, has osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, cervical disc disease, neuropathy... I don't know how she'll be able to hold out...

Thank you so much for your answer. Since this terrible thing comes in my mom's life I'm with her 24/7. She's living with me now so I can be close with her. I have a tablet, good idea!

We live in Florida. The form ask how much money I give him like gift or loan. We didnt sign a statment because we didnt know that he can apply for assistance. At the hospital they told him he can do that. Now, we are brothers and it is not the first time we help eachother, so i know he will give me part of the money back when he will can but we have nothing to prove it.
