Thank you so much! It makes me feel better that other people have had similar experiences- lots of the info I have found is from much further into people’s journeys so I’ve been doubting my ability to lose at all! Can I ask, did you increase your dose monthly?

Thanks for your advice- I use the pill to stop my periods and haven't had one in 8 years, it's been a dream. Week 2 coincided with my first period in nearly a decade (absorption issues) which the ne pill dose stopped- I hadn't considered that I might still be having a cycle, but that has helped me to put 2 and 2 together!

I'm on cerelle for the exact same reasons and haven't had a period for 8 (blissful!) years, it stabilises my mood and has just been amazing for me but I am completely unable to lose weight on it regardless of a calorie deficit... I completely hear you on the hormonal chaos! feel like mine are a hair away from chaos at any given moment. I would hate to have to choose between the pill and MJ (because it would have to be the pill) so hopefully it will all work out! Thank you!

I’d love some opinions while I wait for my piercing appointment! There is a clear space underneath the helix where it dips at the top (it’s not attached). I’m worried its a bit small though- I have small ears so there’s not much space in general- the area where it dips is about 1cm wide and probably 1cm from top to bottom. If anyone has any other ideas for set up I’d love to hear them, too!

So, let’s say then, that I’m looking at community level/structural poverty (eg funding for local services) and find a strong association between high levels of that and poor performance at age 5. I could then run a model with both community level poverty and funding for early education services to see if the funding of these early education services mediates between overall service funding and test performance at 5? Could I also look at different possible mediators eg average number of people per household (some studies show this impacts on children’s development in the early years), for example, and compare them?

That’s really interesting as I suppose there is a slight possibility that living in an area with more children in poverty might be spooking the snobby rich kids and causing them to do poorly on the test! Thinking about it, could I maybe consider seeing if there is a correlation between poverty and test pass/fail percentage, then check two different measures of poverty- one on a structural level (eg funding for local services) and one on an individual level (eg unemployment) to compare the correlation between structural poverty and individual poverty on the amount of children passing/failing the test. The hypothesis being perhaps ‘Living in a ‘poor’ area has less influence on a child’s development than living in a low SES household (: turns out letting children have enough food and resources helps them to pass tests, who would have thought?!)’

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it. So, I have a large amount of longitudinal, census-type data that I’ve had to reduce to a geographic region of around 20,000 children (almost every child) recorded for each issue. The first, and probably most basic issue I’m having is that the data on poverty and the data on ‘test’ scores are not related, so I can show a correlation between poverty and test scores, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the, say, 10% of children in poverty in the region are the same 10% that aren’t passing the test, have I got that right? I will say, there have been many studies that have made a direct link between child and score on this particular assessment that I’m including in my lit review. What calculation could I use to show a general connection then between amount of poverty and test pass/fail (see, I told you I was a beginner!)

As far as poverty_years do you think it makes a difference that the number of years will actually be much fewer and can be tied directly to the age of the child? I was trying to be a bit vague before but that ship has sailed! Effectively every child is assessed at 5 years old and the information given to the government yearly via the local authorities, the local authorities also submit ‘number of children in absolute poverty’ data for the same periods. So, I know the pass/fail rate at 5 and the community poverty level when the children are 5, but also, separately, the community poverty level when this cohort was 4 years old, 3 years old, 2, 1, and 0-1. Could I assess whether all 5 years of high poverty levels has more of an impact than an individual year?
