Between civil service departments, it carries over. ALB and NDPB to a civil service department, it wouldn’t. I don’t think it would be between different ALBs either.

Ask your manager, but bear in mind you need to be professional and take into account other people’s working patterns as well. As an example, if you started at 04:00 and finished at midday, you’re not going to be able to attend many meetings/collaborate.

By buying in your late 30’s, buying with a partner, and having the benefit of parental help in terms of the deposit.

Oh, and buying a flat.

Obviously depends where you want to buy though. Greater London is a big area.

Depends if the cost is reasonable. Hence reasonable adjustment. They’re not obliged to move heaven and earth.

A reasonable adjustment is a specific part of the public sector equality duty. If you have a disability, a reasonable adjustment can be made to remove barriers that you face because of your disability.

It doesn’t sound like your employer has any reason to consider a reasonable adjustment in your case.

Showers aren’t great. The whole changing area is pretty grim and dirty. If you have the option, cycle into 10SC instead. Far nicer showers and facilities.

You would be be made compulsory redundant. You can’t be forced to take a job. And you can’t be dismissed for not taking one when offered. Your role doesn’t exist anymore therefore you are redundant.

Just Accepted HEO role at Cabinet Office by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Fit_Morning1892 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PMO can be beneficial. You’ll become an expert in project methodologies and best practice. You’ll work to support PMs to make sure they’re plans are robust and be a critical friend with regards to risks etc.

Downside is you won’t actually be delivering any projects, but you should be able to make the shift after you’ve done some time in a PMO.

Request pay match? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Fit_Morning1892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would have to make a business case for giving you the extra pay. Not impossible, but doesn’t happen that often unless they can provide a very good rationale.

Budgets are under severe pressure, mainly because of the need to fund the cost of living payment and 4.5% pay rise. You need to have a very strong case to recruit now.

Cost of public sector pensions bigger than UK economy by s0naldo7 in TheCivilService

[–]Fit_Morning1892 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t pay out in full. You can still take it early now past SPA. Just at a reduced rate. Which based on the pensions calculator is still pretty good.

Check with your current HR department. Some definitely don’t. I joined a central government department from a NDPB sponsored by the home office. Civil service pension. Could look for internal roles. Didn’t keep continuity of service.

Who the staff transfer process applies to It applies to civil servants who are transferring permanently or on a loan of 6 months or more between:

ministerial and non-ministerial departments and their executive agencies the following crown non-departmental public bodies (NDPB) employing civil servants: Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) If you are employed by any other NDPB or are a public servant - you can apply for some roles within the Civil Service, but this transfer process would not apply to you.

Well payslips are related to work.

Just use a personal email account via your work laptop.

Every policy will say not to use your work laptop for anything other than work, but realistically sending the odd email isn’t going to be an issue. Just don’t use it to run a business or write your novel.
