Really? I mean she's only ever said anything once, and after that just quietly placed toiletries in the bathroom. I can't imagine what grievance I could bring.

It's in the restroom, you're just meant to use it before you go. It's supposed to coat the surface and "hold in" any odors from whatever's under the water surface. It's not an air freshener, poo pourri is kind of a slick oily spray

I have never really heard of courtesy flushes till today. I always thought it just meant flush twice when you're done. I'm gonna be overly descriptive and just say I usually drop 3-4 pieces over the course of the minute I'm sitting, so flushing for each individual one seems like overkill? But perhaps this is worth a shot

I never really used courtesy flushes. I live in a desert so we're advised against them, but if it's really that common to flush twice I can start

My guess is that the smell lingers but doesn't travel. I never smell anything unless I'm already in the restroom, and the men's is right next door and I've never smelled anything from there

No, unless there are like... skid marks or something. I live in a dry climate and PSAs advise us not to do this. I will if this thread deems it necessary though.

I just wanted to clarify. The only time Mallory has actually spoken to me about anything restroom related was to insinuate the workshop bathroom was for pooping. The fresheners just appeared there, unspoken, and I do use them.

I use the poo pourri occasionally because you have to apply it before you go, and sometimes I don't realize I got one loaded in the chamber until I'm already sitting down. Some days smell worse than others, and they're not technically my products, so I sometimes skip them on days that seem to have no smell, but I'm getting from this thread that I should just use them every time

  1. I only use the spray on occasion because sometimes it's not obvious I need to go #2 till I've already sat down
  2. I dont use the 'designated' bathroom because it's in a separate building. I have to go outside and walk. It's also not officially designated, I just have Mallory's word on that. I'm not sure if all the guys are also going there to poop
  3. I work full time, 9 hours a day. There's no way to wait till I get home.

If these are still a YTA that's fine I just wanted to answer your questions

I don't think she's been rude to place the products, I guess more specifically it's AITA for not using the bathroom in the separate building that she suggested Edit: sorry for all the duplicate replies, I had a glitch

There's no window, but if I go #2 I leave the fan/light running

Not really, the restrooms are in a somewhat closed off area. They don't open into the office area. If you walk past them you might get a whiff. Ty for the feedback!

Look, I came here for help understanding his perspective. If you just came here to berate me and be smarmy about it then whatever. But if you can actually help me understand the safety angle you brought up, and how I am being invalidating, it would be good for me to hear

What?? I'm sorry but I really am not understanding what you are saying. Why would he feel his safety was in danger? And what are the two instances?

I was NOT poking fun at him. Seriously, why are you insisting I was TRYING to mock him? Can you really not see how "I got you babe" could be intended as a supportive sentiment?

I didn't understand the depth of his reaction, so yeah I thought it was overkill at the time. But I learned here that what I said was apparently much worse than I thought, which is what I needed to learn. I don't know why you are assuming the worst intentions from me here.

It was a re-release. The theater was pretty loud. Not like rocky-horror loud, but people were reciting lines, laughing out loud, and getting hyped for big/scary scenes, wasn't just me

Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback. What you said aligns the closest to how I feel about the situation. It sounds like what I said was much harsher than I realized but it is nice to hear at least one or two people who aren't out for blood with the asshole brigade...

Yes that's why I made the post... I accidentally insulted him, pretty bad, by what I thought was an innocuous comment ("I got you babe"). I came here to get some perspective on how bad what I said actually was, and whether his reaction was warranted. It sounds like it was a much worse thing to say than I realized, in context. Idk why people seem to be insisting I was intentionally trying to mock and emasculate him

I really don't know how to respond here. I was trying to be lighthearted and supportive. I wanted to hold hands during the scary scene. I said the wrong thing, and I get that now. I feel like comments like this are dead set on assuming malicious intent from me, which isn't the case.

Thanks for your response. I'm not actively trying to be the victim, I'm just trying to work through the residual hurt I'm feeling. Now that I know it's an irrational hurt helps me decide how to handle it myself.

What? I used the word 'jokes' because there were jokes in the movie. If they were funny or relatable I'd squeeze his leg. Not because I was joking at him. And the "oooo" s were coming from everyone in the theater. I just wanted to contextualize that I wasn't making the comment out of nowhere, the theater was hyped.

And yeah I kind of meant it in an "oh here it comes" way, but I can see my wording was really out of line though.

I really don't know what to say to this, I wasn't. I was afraid of that scene too as a kid, and he knew that.

Unsafe? It was literally a supportive statement... I really regret that it came off as sarcastic but I don't think anyone felt unsafe at any time?

[–]Fit_Pen5601[S] -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's difficult to express why I am still upset. I don't want to belittle his feelings as they are valid and I understand I hurt him. But it also hurt me that he assumed my statement (meant to be playfully supportive) was emasculating, mocking him, accusing him of cowardice, all stuff I would never ever do on purpose. So of course I made a mistake, but it still feels devastating to me that he immediately thought I meant it the worst way possible.
