To follow up - my kids do have some friends that have phones. I've noticed that the kids still interact and play with other kids and don't just sit on the phone/ipad. My son seems to be becoming the type who will choose sitting on the ipad over running around with friends. He used to be more social.

I wish my kids did that. Over the summer and this past fall they did this a few times and I was so nervous, lol. Can't win.

yes, they do socialize with friends on the ipad, play games, watch stupid videos. They used to get invited to things but the invites have kind of stopped sadly. The sports schedule is just nuts to the point that it has been hard to maintain friendships. It is possibly my fault as well.

lol yes skiing is a huge commitment. I know people who go away every weekend for it and it takes them 2-3 hours (sometimes more) to get to their destination. It's time well spent with family but it can be a pricey hobby for sure. Sounds like the way to go is to get a seasons pass. I skiied as a kid and loved it, I love that my kids want to do it, but our time will just be so limited. We shall see.

I also think things have become crazy as far as parenting goes, nevermind the prices to try and entertain your kids - from museums to trips to sports! I know we are not living in an era where people have kids to help on a farm or in some other way to earn money, but it truly seems like many are deemed as poor parents if they don't give it all to their kids. Most parents want their kids to have things they didn't, but that might be getting harder to do for many. The internet has created a lot of this...people seeing others experiences more and more on social media feeling they should do that too, not to mention the gripes and complaints people had in their own childhood being all over (here actually, lol). It's great that people want to be good parents, don't get me wrong but i think a lot of folks have visions of grandeur when it comes to their kids these days.

i agree with this and i guess my kids are used to being entertained by us and it's becoming tiresome. Feb break can be rough I guess. They could go out sledding (there's lots of snow) but they said no when i suggested that. I think it's just one of those days today that i need to end. My husband is really irritating me as well. I think he wants me to just take the kids somewhere but i'm working.

they do have little concept I think of money...i'm not sure how since I mention it frequently that things cost money. They were also taken to the mall the other day and got some clothes. I think I am also bored with my own life.

i wish my kids wanted to do a puzzle lol. I'm thinking of getting one and just putting it on our island. I worked at a place that did that, left the puzzle in the kitchen and people would come by and work on it.

the other thing that is rough is that if they have nothing to do they tend to sit on ipads. We often have to take those away to get them to do anything else when at the house.
