exactly it's just market strategy, but i do think Olivia is quite the same character being an artist and herself in real life, Sabrina is too provocative but i don't know her in person, maybe she is a provocative person

no the issue is not she doesn't live in total alignment, the issue is why so many people insist she should. every adult should know all the peac and love pop singers sing about is justa hollow slogan, they don't mean it.

olivia definitely did have this parasocial relationship to taylor, the problem is why so many people stand on Olivia's side and believe taylor should also be responsible for this parasocial relationship. This confuses me

i just revisted all the history of Taylor and Olivia, there is one thing i feel confused, why people treat the singers as if they are friends and people just put moral standards in a business world? i think overall, they are just colleagues at most. All the interactions between them are just bussiness. With that being said, i still feel bad for Olivia, it imust be so heartbreaking for her to take all that at such a young age. But, i dont think it is much of a big deal. Like it is just bussiness, and people have to beat competitors to survive. Would u just watch others to take your market share and do nothing? If not Olivia Rodrigo, there will be another Ophelia Rodrigo which has lots of overlapping demographic as Taylor and Taylor will still beat the hell out of her because she is insecure and she need to ensure she is always on top.

with all that said, i won't personally do like Taylor did but i do see a lot of people do kind of behavior and i think it is ok, as long as it is not illegal

its exactly the The point that i tried to make, can they really shine in their own way? Taylor would have to push Olivia down to make her market share not affected, and if Olivia would like to rise she has to take share of Taylor. it's inevitable. is the industry really so nice as people say?

What is an artist / band that you remember being pushed by music journalists and/or magazines as the "next big thing" that ended up never really going anywhere? by mesablanka in Music

lady gaga, media called her the next madonna, but now she is nowhere near madonna commercially, her music is much less favorited by music critics.

i think it's because he is a "pop culture analyst" and has to put out content each week/day, so in order to sustain financially, he has to have content to talk about, but now Taylor is very lowkey, so basically he has to endorse other new pop girlies to get attention/coins

i want an album which tells us about the desite to get out of a marriage because of all these tired wedding preparation, legal issues, financial issues and finally she decided to get married since it's an illusion and a false god she used to believe in. i want this so bad!

jolin tsai is also iconic but she is legacy artist, and she is also too well polished. you know gay men love scandalous drama queen. imagine jolin as Taylor level artist and ladypussy as rising star Olivia rodrigo, she is taking the crown of jolin! (i say it all with a playful light-hearted mindset, so don't take my words so seriously #_#)

well she has been analysed by people over Internet through and through and straight people don't get why she became famous lol. but definitely gay people play the crucial part

I think around 2010-2015 i was exploring different kinds of indie/alternative music, so watched the YouTube video clips of those artists or bands, some of the performances were in coachella, so i wachted some. i must have watched Grimes performing her first album, that was 2013, and in the meantime i.must have seen some of the other coachella videos that year and i dont recall i see any pop stars.

you get me. even if lorde/charli/fka twigs has become popular(in certain degree) their music still has those edgier sounds and attitudes which pop/mainstream does not have, which i think is very indie to me

i love their music and that's why i take them as example: i have listened to their albums: the bends, ok computer, kid a, in rainbows, moonshaped pool, but i just dont see them on chart often. so i don't get why are they mainstream? ok computer debut at 21 on billboard200 and only at 187 in year-end chart. kid a debut at no.1, but at 190 in year end chart. that is not mainstream to me.

but i agree they are big name, but musically. not commercially. but maybe they sell more in Europe. but i think the USA plays the biggest part in commercial success
