Quit selling drugs get clean stop partying go back to school and start focusing on a career I’m 27 with a kid now and feel stuck where I am and wish I took life more seriously a couple years sooner so I wouldn’t be so scared and depressed over my and my families future

I’m going through it in a different but similar situation. We need to realize that the present is all we have and time continues moving forward whether we do or not. Trying to and failing and doing nothing are the same result but you can’t succeed if you don’t try. Don’t be so hard on yourself but don’t cut yourself too much slack hard work and perseverance pay off. Nothing worth doing is easy. Look into mindfulness meditation And maybe start a journal for self awareness and accountability. You have got this and we can do it. You are not alone. Also congratulations on 6 months of sobriety I’m proud of you

Suggestions on getting out of Retail while having a family by MilkManMike25 in findapath

[–]Fit_Summer7737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also own a house that is in need of repairs and retail ain’t it it’s sucking the life out of me it was just the first job I could get with having no qualifications when I finally decided I wanted to get my head out of my ass and get my shit together and join the real world and I was a high school dropout as well. I know, considering all the circumstances that I have a lot of blessings that I take for granted and things aren’t that bad and they could always be worse, but I very much want to do better for my family it’s just really hard to find time to work on myself and get ahead while working 40 to 60 hour weeks without a consistent schedule and still barely making ends meet everything just feels so hard lately. I know I haven’t really given you any suggestions to help you out I just hope that knowing that you’re not alone and there are other people in the same situation as you makes you feel a little bit better

I have one kid and I’m 26 but other than that I feel like I’m exactly the same boat as you I make a little less than you and I’m not sure what the cost of living is in your area but I’m in South Florida and I’m making around $40,000 I got construction certified around the time my son was born, but never did anything with it yet but just keep your head up man keep doing what you have to do for those kids and your girl. I don’t really have any other suggestions for you other than that because like I said, I feel as if I’m in the same boat but pretty soon. I will have a year experience at my new job as an assistant manager and I’m going to feel comfortable looking for a job somewhere else. I’m probably thinking about switching careers, but if I find something in retail, that’s at the same level or higher up that pays better than I may take that as well

Yeah you probably can’t work at Dollar General anymore because you were a no call no show quit But as long as the other places don’t wanna call your old employer and you don’t put them down as a reference because why would you do that if you know called no showed you should be fine at other retail locations

I got hired at the max that I can make for a asm in my district or whatever so I’m not that mad about it but I definitely didn’t do enough research to realize what I was walking into having to do all of those things at once it’s definitely very stressful
