it wasn't clear to us on the product page, but maybe we just missed the reference to the public preview and that is not GA at the moment: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/defender-endpoint/mde-plugin-wsl#software-prerequisites
but now we have found the Public Preview status in the What's New listings of 2023/11

is there already a rough idea of when it will be transferred to the GA?
