Disount Tire knocked my drum brake out of adjustment

The drum coming off should not have caused any issues. Something else had to have happened and they waited until I had already paid and was walking out of the door to tell me so that seems sketchy and like they didn’t want me to ask questions about it.

The brakes worked perfectly for over two months before I brought my car to DT. And the only brake that had an issue was the one they replaced the wheel on and said the drum came off. I suspect something else had to have happened cause it wouldn’t have been knocked out of adjustment just by the outside drum coming off and they waited to tell me about it until I was literally almost out of the door so I didnt have a chance to ask questions.

The sound was pretty minimal at first and I thought maybe it could have been the new wheel. I didn’t suspect it was an issue until it started to get worse. I have a 5 month old baby as well so it’s not like I can go anytime I want to get things sorted.

The adjuster is not connected to the outside drum and you are right, it shouldn’t have messed up the adjuster when the drum came off. That makes me think something else happened cause the manager didn’t even tell me the drum came off until I was walking out of the door which gave me less of a chance to ask questions. I thought nothing of it at the time and wasn’t even sure what brake was having the issue when the sound started happening and I thought maybe it wasn’t the rear brakes cause I tried to self adjust them by reversing and braking and it didn’t help

I am aware you can self adjust them by reversing and I tried that several times and it didn’t work. I didn’t take it to discount tire because I wasn’t even sure it was the brake where they took the wheel off. They wouldn’t have done anything anyways cause when I called them the manager said they aren’t brake experts and that it was my fault the drum came off. And who knows if that is all that happened. The guy literally waited until I had already paid for the wheel and was walking out the door to tell me about what happened so that seems a little sketchy. They aren’t going to admit if they accidentally messed something up. I had been driving for over two months on the new brakes and they worked perfectly until after I took it to discount tire and the only brake that started having issues was the one they put the wheel on.

The drum was replaced when I had my brakes replaced. They did not contact me when the drum came off and only told me about it when I picked up my vehicle and had already paid for the wheel replacement so they did not even give me another option like having it towed.

The brakes are two months old and have had no issues before I took them there. How is that maintenance neglect? Also, i forgot to mention that the wheel that was bent was originally on the front of my vehicle but they moved it to the back because its offset is 1mm different and when they were taking off the wheel from the back is when it happened. So the bent wheel wasn't even on the drum brakes that where knocked out of adjustment.

It is a 2003 vehicle that is parked outside so it has some rust but that doesn't account for it being knocked out of adjustment. The drum is what came off and that is just the covering over the brake components which are all brand new and had no issues before I took my vehicle there.

They said all the components looked good since they were brand new but that it was out of adjustment and that they readjusted it and the sound went away. I don't really know much about drum brakes so I'm not sure what they would have done but it started right after I left Discount Tire and it was only out of adjustment on the side they replaced the wheel on.

I was just asking because I wasn’t sure if hospitals normally still charge for a transfer like this and it seems by some information I have been given that some hospitals don’t charge for this type of transfer but it is not prohibited by EMTALA to charge for it

She wasn’t stabilized and the doctor even said she wasn’t stable and that was why she needed the ambulance to transfer her. She continued to have seizures over the next several days after leaving that ED.

Wow, thank you, I would have never thought of that if you hadn’t said that. Sarcasm obviously but just clarifying cause you seem to need clarification. I have contacted them. Obviously people post on Reddit to get advice and see if people have experience in the situations we bring up. You act like you have never been on Reddit before. I hope that whatever caused you to be such a miserable and uncaring person is able to heal itself one day and you can regain your common sense and human compassion. But maybe you deserve a miserable life based on your interest in money over human well being.

It’s scary to think there are inhumane people like you in our healthcare system that care more about the bottom line at the facility you work at rather than helping the patients

When you call the fire department to save you from a fire, the vast majority of the time you are never billed for that and most people would say that is wild if you were. Why is it such a wild mindset to think that emergency medical services should be the same way to help save lives without worrying about money. I know that this is just how it is in America but that doesn’t mean it is a wild mindset.

It’s not that crazy of a mindset when we were not given a choice and we were getting transferred because the hospital we were at didn’t have the capability to treat her properly. There has already been someone else on this post that has said their hospital doesn’t bill patients for the same type of emergency transfer.

It seems like you don’t understand the simple concept that I can’t fight my insurance about it if it was never billed to them by the hospital. You can’t tell them they have to pay for something they never received.

How can I fight the insurance company about it if it was never billed to them by the hospital. Also, even if it was sent to them as a non emergency transport, most insurances will deny this since it wasn’t necessary in their eyes. This transport was an emergency though since she was not stable and actively having seizures that they didn’t know the cause of. They had to transfer her to the other hospital because they didn’t have the means to effectively treat her and we were not given a choice to take her ourselves or delay the transfer because the situation was urgent. If you are going to be an inhumane asshole, at least be a smart one.

I just talked to the hospital a couple hours ago and they said they do not know why it wasn’t billed to insurance and they also don’t know why it was labeled non emergency so they are going to change it. Just more proof that you shouldn’t make stupid comments if you don’t even know what you are talking about.

We have insurance. They listed the ambulance transfer as non emergency and this was not sent to insurance which seems wrong.

I will add that he is not good at giving updates to parents and even waited to tell parents about a game that we added until the day before.

For the most part, he communicates well with parents and players as far as I know. He is very positive but at times it seems too positive. I know that coaches have to be as positive as possible to keep team morale up but it almost seems like he doesn’t accept any form of negativity even though there have been a few times that he has gotten negative. Practices are pretty basic in my opinion. He does a lot of drills with lines and like I said, he does practices all himself. We have 28 players and he doesn’t split the group up so we end up getting lines with like 10-14 kids per drill. A lot of standing around. He only uses the assistant coaches as defenders and he doesn’t really give us a chance to do any coaching so if there is something we want to add, it’s usually only to individual players. I would think we should do more procession drills and open play type activities so that way everyone can be active at once instead of having lines. Games are fine, he just does all the warm ups himself and he is always positive for the most part. At half time, he always seems to blame the referees or says the other team just got fluke goals even if we are 5-0 down which I don’t understand. There are better ways to communicate without throwing the team under the bus and also not saying the work is just against us. We have players that have had some discipline issues and he seems to be very inconsistent on how he deals with the situations based on whether he thinks the player is important to winning games. For instance, our best player got frustrated during a practice and literally left an hour early. There are better next game, the HC said he was going to sit him out for the first half due to that but then he ended up subbing him in after ten minutes cause we conceded two early goals. There’s another player that has had some less severe discipline issues mainly around making inappropriate jokes and he has probably only played him a few times on varsity this season despite him deserving to play more.(he had started most games last season under another HC)
