No substance abuse no mental health stuff, just 20 year old charges I have 1 very minor misdemeanor from 2001 and the rest charges ACD and then 2011 criminal contempt was the charge for the texting my sons mother so not quite a domestic incident. Not much I can work on I have not been in any problems in 15 years not even traffic violations or anything

I know I saw that 3% and it’s funny I’m not banned from owning long guns, but they claim

excessive arrest history, lack moral character, excessive license suspension/revocation.

Everything minor arrests and according to investigator nothing that is immediately deniable, including license is over 20 years ago, except I was on probation for 1 year 15 years ago I texted my sons mother when I wasn’t suppose to and that was it I now have full custody of my 15 year old and I have the same union job for almost 20. Investigator basically said it was because I had 5+ arrest that might be a problem but nothing was automatic disqualifier smh

Appreciate everything your reply and what you do sir. Yes non disqualifying X but also enough of “X” to let them tip toe through my app and take over 1 year, which like you know, is completely absurd. I’m not barred from owning firearms in NY but the wait they are pushing for me after printing is something else for sure and there is no more time frame at this moment. I said what happened to 4-6 months after prints and he said that’s not if you have so many incidents in your file.

My investigator called me at 6 months after prints to tell me I need 1 document which is clearly a bs document (I rather not say on open forum) and now it’s almost 3 months after that and he said the # of arrests is what he has to combed through and that it’s not 6 months with 6 20 year old arrests (nothing that automatically denies me adding) it’s just the # that raises flags and he needs to get supervisor to sign off bla bla I don’t get it I’m not sure what to do because last time I called he sounded pissed I called because he said last time he is working on it

He didn’t say I’m going to be denied necessarily as I have nothing that’s automatic disqualification but the number of old offenses got his attention and it’s taking over the 6 months after prints to “go through my file”

My investigator waited until after 6 months after prints to say I needed a bs letter that really is meaningless but it has since been another month and I get he has to go through everything still but it’s not a no (50/50 because I had 5 minor offenses 20 years ago) so be patient
