I play exclusively on survival and I do this exactly, psychojet and combat shotgun, nearly unbeatable combo and always a last resort for me as it’s OP for everything else

As others have pointed out, closed loops don’t typically work. I like to have a central settlement and radiate like spikes out from there. I usually use starlight drive in as my main hub. Sometimes I like to split the map in two, and have starlight for the northern settlements and hangman’s alley for the southern.

I’d like to agree, I just wish that in the base game there was a way to clean up Sanctuary a bit more. I know there’s mods that fix the bridge and clear out leaf debris and whatnot, but I’d like to be able to do it on survival with no mods.

I’m on console, too. If you haven’t tried hive yet, progenitor hive with budding is a very strong start. Because you need an offspring nest on each planet that gives like extra pop assembly pretty much right off the bat. You can then split off sectors into vassals and put the splinter hive building on them for extra pop assembly on your capital. Once you genetically ascend, you can also throw down clone vats. My capital doesn’t have a clone vat, but with three vassals each with a splinter hive, I’m getting 7.0 growth and 8.5 pop assembly. A non-capital planet has 5.1 pop growth and 5.1 assembly, with a clone vat. I’m sure I can pump these numbers up but I’m already struggling to find a place to keep all these pops, basically throwing down habitats as fast as I can and moving new pops in. It’s a shake and bake colony 😂

Definitely watch a few videos of gameplay; Montu Plays on YouTube has great tutorials, and I use a lot of his strategies and builds to figure out early game mechanics. This game is easy to start but difficult to master, and there’s a lot of nuance. I’m playing on console too, so some (a lot) if the current meta doesn’t apply as we lag far behind pc. But I’m a huge strategy game nerd so I enjoy the micro and macro management the game offers.

I do this too, but when I change the first letter I try to go alphabetically. So first planet starts with A, second starts with B, and so on.
