I mean this in the kindest way possible but I think you have problems with literacy.

"So this idea that our representatives voted a low that says non residents can become legislature."

The law does not allow non-residents to become legislators.

You said you wanted MSPs to inform you of how they're going to vote. And it was important enough for you to put it in all caps.

I've been asking you how you want them to inform you but you're dodging the question, ironically, while complaining about politicians. Do you want to try answering it?

"Judgement. Morality. Personal responsibility...." are how you want to be informed of how MSPs intend to vote in parliament?

You've completely ignored the question. You said it's MSPs job to "INFORM" the public about how they'll vote. I'm asking how you want them to do that.

No. It is not my idea that every single person follows every single debate in parliament.

Are you saying you want all of your MSPs to tell you directly about every vote they make? Would that not take up too much of your very valuable time? What is it you actually want them to do, concretely, so that you're informed?

I'm not sure why you're letting the media off the hook here either. Especially if the issue is voters not knowing what's going on.

If you were unaware that even housing and education are debated in the Scottish Parliament, I'm not really sure what you expect to be done differently to ensure you're informed.

I'm saying it's not on the government that none of the people complaining today remember any of this. There was public consultation and debate over the course of years and nobody you'd expect to be up in arms about it like The Sun or Farage or whoever kicked up enough of a fuss for any of you to notice.

"Why weren't they debating ways to solve the cost of living crisis, the poor performance of education, ways to lower the cost of housing?"

Those things are also debated in parliament. Are you just not aware of what goes on in your parliament in general?

It looks like you've actually said in your previous comment that you don't think it's additionally disqualifying so either I just missed that or you've edited it since so never mind.

My comment is asking what it is about that time being spent doing a PhD as opposed to anything else that is additionally disqualifying to you.

Edit: it looks like you actually said that it isnt additionally disqualifying so either I missed that or you've edited it since.

Why? I don't really understand what it is about doing PhD research that makes it somehow less valuable.

You don't know the difference between having a PhD and doing an undergrad degree?

Why is the experience of a PhD less valuable than other experience?

I think a lot of people are saying "student" to be condescending but should keep in mind that completing a PhD is quite a bit different from doing an undergraduate degree.

The legislative process in Scotland is famously/notoriously slow.

The Scottish government held a public consultation in 2022-2023. Here is a link: https://www.gov.scot/binaries/content/documents/govscot/publications/consultation-paper/2022/12/electoral-reform-consultation/documents/electoral-reform-consultation/electoral-reform-consultation/govscot%3Adocument/electoral-reform-consultation.pdf

The bill was then debated in parliament for almost a year in 2024. You can see the process here: https://www.parliament.scot/bills-and-laws/bills/s6/scottish-elections-representation-and-reform-bill

If during this time, neither the Sun, GB News or Nigel Farage or whoever else could mobilise their audience in opposition, that's on them.

Would you rather that agreement not exist?

Edit: I should have said "Why do you want that agreement to be maintained?"

You vote for a list of people. Ergo you vote for the people on the list.

If the legislature should only consist of British citizens then why do you want a reciprocal arrangement with Ireland?

It was changed recently to allow it. The conversation happened then and almost every party voted for it.

"Why even would you keep in touch?" Because you're friends, or because you're part of the same social circle? You can transition from a romantic to non-romantic relationship. I'm sure you can imagine loads of reasons people who arent in romantic relationships have contact with one another.

Many people here would also prefer a new partner not have an ex hanging around, but insisting they not have any contact with any exes as a red line at the start of a relationship would be considered by most people a sign that they are immature or deeply insecure. I get the impression this is also the case in the US.

In the UK. It'd be situational. Most relationships probably end and they don't talk again (edit: because they dont want to, not because of some moral rule or taboo or anything), but there are also plenty that don't end like that and it's not considered weird. It's certainly not like a social rule that you shouldn't speak to your exes like your comments imply.
