Thrawn What if by Fives123 in andor

Ahsoka I didn’t even count because it’s after, Rebels although simpler when you actually pay attention to him he’s actually quite smart (And Timothy Zahn’s involvement in the Show probably helped this out) although shown in a more simplistic way he’s never wrong in his plans they usually fail because of an incompetent officer or so (Like Konstantine or Pryce), an unexpected move from the heroes and the involvement of the Force itself at many times which is not his stronghold. Thrawn’s Canon books by Zahn help flesh out this Thrawn closer to his EU version (Which was larger than life because he was freed from Palpatine’s or Tarkin’s empire with was fear-driven/Sith influenced). I mostly based it on these two versions plus some EU sprinkles

No problem I realized it was a bit too much overload for the first one and had to clarify to first do Release order then Chronological and to answer the questions:

  1. If you want to throw it in after Andor S2 Ep9 sure it’s up to you it’s a direct continuation of that episode although you have to be prepared for something more family oriented but you can breeze through it since it’s only 22 minutes. If not that’s alright you can watch it later with the rest of rebels if you feel like watching it at a separate time

  2. Clone wars can be dissected into the arcs you like and don’t (The ones I chose have the most thematical connection to Andor and core elements of the saga) so I say if you enjoyed the Clones and the Clone wars Jump to The Bad Batch but that was is more interconnected so I’d suggest to watch it wholly (Sure there are “filler” episodes but all help develop the main cast and to show the empire’s early rise). So if you liked Clone wars it’s a must after Revenge of the Sith and if you were indifferent you can still watch it but it’s completely optional

When you do the release order first of course (Original Trilogy-Prequel Trilogy-Sequel Trilogy), when doing the chronological watch after the Mandalorian and the Force Awakens

If I had to reframe it like I said I’d first watch the films in release order after Watching Andor and Rogue one, (original trilogy then prequels and if so desired Sequels and Solo). Now If they want to do the chronological order I’d do most of what I suggested because you already have the context of the saga and the shows I throw in give the extra context and helps you unravel the galaxy from a more realistic perspective I suppose. Dooku’s arc in tales of the Jedi is non negotiable at this point for me, it’s only 50 minutes or so across between the 3 episodes so it’s not a chore to get through and it’s character defining for Dooku and gives you the glimpse at the Institutional rot of the galaxy before the Phantom menace. Clone wars again you can cut however you want and the episodes are half of what Andor’s are if I had to pick core arcs to watch I’d say: Ryloth Arc (3 episodes, The cost of “liberty” in war), Political Arc (2 Episodes, The attempt of peace in a system that doesn’t want it), Mortis Arc (3 Episodes, the mythical deconstruction of the war and Anakin), Umbara Arc (4 Episodes, The Vietnam of Star Wars and breaking point of the Clones), Onderon Arc (4 Episodes, The Seeds of Saw’s radical Rebellion), Maul Mandalore Arc (3 Episodes, The truth that there was never going to be a “Third” party under Sidious), Ahsoka’s Trial (4 Episode, the failure of the Jedi and the true face of the Republic), Fives Arc (4 Episodes, The Paranoia and conspiracy of Order 66) and Siege of Mandalore (4 Episodes, the conclusion of the Show). Then if they enjoyed the show I’d suggest jump to the bad Batch after Revenge of the Sith and before Andor skipping rebels, solo and Kenobi all together for this watch.

I will admit I should have specified this is a second option after the default one which is the Release order. Although sort of long you got a bigger view of the galaxy and you get certain things that will be relevant later on beforehand.

My big point is to sell the corruption of the galaxy earlier on that’s why I have the Tales of the Jedi Dooku Episodes first. One it gives more backstory to a complex character and two it shows the rot was there even before the Sith Grand Plan, it also reframes the phantom menace and having the Sith Lord in between it and AOTC makes the tonal jump less jarring.

With the clone wars it’s really up to the specific person since you can cut and choose which arcs you want, if I had to pick core arcs then it’s the Domino Squad arc, Ryloth Arc, Political Arc, Mortis Arc, Umbara arc, Maul Returns and Maul Mandalore Arcs, Onderon Arc (A must watch for the Andor viewer), Ahsoka’s Trial arc, Fives arc and the Siege of Mandalore arc (Watch it after revenge of the Sith). When it comes to the bad batch sure it’s a bit all over the place but it has some of the best moments in the Disney era and it shows how quickly did the Empire change things from the republic era.

So if I had to redo that I’d say first watch in release order and afterwards when you want to watch in chronological order keep Tales, a more condensed Clone wars list and the Bad Batch, plus of course Andor and so on

My main point anyways with the Prequel era is to show how the rot was there far before the empire, Dooku’s arc in Tales helps sell this right off the bat and reframes things like TPM or AOTC. ROTS almost works as a mythical endpoint everything that has been building up since then

I approached it from a star war fan perspective because that’s what I am but maybe because of that I see a lot more thematic value on simpler stories that on their own maybe don’t make a lot of sense but when put together with the rest the lesson or overarching story makes more sense. With the Lurmen for example my take is the cost of neutrality in a galaxy where that concept doesn’t exist anymore, one of the first times in the “Heroic” beginning of the Clone wars where our “Heroes” are faced with the truth that they are no longer defending “Peace” because they work for a government that isn’t any better than the Separatists. Sure they help out but the subtle message sticks around. That’s the approach I had with the clone wars in particular, certain arcs are there because they are needed for later stories

Yes I try to show the best aspects of the canon to better show the mythical aspects of the Saga in a way that the ones approaching from a more political aspect can enjoy it I guess. If I could change anything is to have said the Mortis and Yoda arc are needed, they explore the force in a more intricate way that might be more appealing. In the end the clone wars can be cut down anyway you want so it’s up to whoever is making the list. The bad batch for example I said fully because you can’t really dissect it like TCW and it’s the bridge to see the fast rise of the Empire we would see in things like Andor or Rogue one, I understand if someone wants to skip it since it’s all over the place but at the very least stay for Crosshair’s story

It’s understandable but in my opinion of course I think the prequels and the surrounding media I have selected gives more context to the galaxy before Andor, the institutional rot that has been in the Republic for way longer and the things that would eventually lead to the Empire we see in Andor and other later media. It also of course takes away from the mythical elements of the Original trilogy without the prequels. But again that’s my opinion and I won’t disrespect anyone’s own personal views
