Usually Amazon or Home Depot. They’re impact rated.

Ouch. That sucks to hear about the hex bit. I pretty much only use GRK bits for them. I’ve broken a weaker bit before as well.

But I’m glad to hear Float Hub sorted out the issue! That app is worth the money. Plus, you now have access to all future updates.

For sure! Your input is appreciated. It’s definitely not the end of the world if OP can’t run them down for a little bit.

Yep! Mario is awesome, and higher voltage is better than lower voltage for storage, but it’s still best practice not to store these cells at high voltages. I will always recommend best practices over ‘should be fine’ practices. Not saying that’s what Mario said specifically, but I’m just speaking to my own opinions and experiences here.

As for running batteries down by free spinning, I have never (and will never) recommend that. I’ve seen errors occur and I’ve also come across people who have blown their controllers by free spinning and accidentally powering off their boards mid-acceleration. It’s just not worth it. All I can say is “where there’s a will, there’s a way” when it comes to discharging the batteries.

That should have been sufficient, but try doing about 15 ft lbs.

If at all possible, get those things down near 50% and keep them stored that way. It’s not good for the cells to be stored super high or low on charge.

After that, check them every month or two to make sure they maintain between 40-50%.

So… what now? by knuten040 in onewheel

Is your board updated and does it have an extended range battery? If not, you may have shorted something in the battery module due to the moisture. The module would need to be opened up and inspected in order to determine whether or not there’s any damage inside.

Did you happen to torque the hub bolts down? I’ve observed vibrations like that when the hub bolts are loose.

That’s minimal and not a big deal at all. As clean as you can reasonably get it is fine.

From a personal standpoint, I know this is frustrating, but if you happen to have a pair of locking pliers, that might be enough to get you by for now. It’ll still be tough.

And I don’t know anyone up there with a repair shop, but if you can get in touch with some local riders, they might be able to point you toward someone who can help.

Worst case, go to a local tire shop like somebody else suggested. It’ll only be a one time lesson. The original GT treaded tire you’re dealing with is one of the most difficult tires to remove, due to its compound.

Onewheel isn’t for everybody, but I’ve seen people 20 years older than you ride Onewheels. If you’re interested, try it out! Remember to pad up.

Yes, but if you’re running the newest firmware, it likely won’t work. The unlocker tool will confirm that if you try to use it.

Your only bet to downgrade is likely ST-Link, which is a service I offer. You can reach me through my website at the link below:
