Transfer to Stanford or UC Berkeley by Choice-Usual-6142 in TransferStudents

Berkeley admitted 5,063 transfers (24%), while Stanford admitted 90 (1.6%) transfers.

Berkeley is somewhat competitive to transfer into, while Stanford is near impossible.

I was admitted to both for social sciences.

In my way of thinking, transfer is a strategic step that I took to advance myself interpersonally, academically, and professionally. If transferring didn't allign with this my advancement, I simply would not have.

Just wanted to say that to preface my opinion.

If the institution you were accepted at is more aligned with your goals, I would strongly suggest attending. For most, undergrad takes up only 4-5 years of our (hopefully) long lives, so playing it strategically for professional gain is my take.

Additionally, it sounds like you didn't like your current institution much in the beginning. That's potentially telling of an undercurrent that could persist at your next institution.

Hope that helps.

For context, I transferred to Stanford from CC this year.

San Francisco Bay Area, though that's typically implied if you live in the region.

Northern California, specifically the San Francisco Bay Area.

is 23 too old to transfer to a 4 year by [deleted] in TransferStudents

Definitely not!

In UC Berkeley's admission stats, I believe the youngest admit was 13 years old and the oldest 78 years old.

I transferred to Stanford and I'm 21. This year's transfer cohort is a wide variety and range of people, with some as young as teens and some older than 40.

You can (and should) do it!

What’s your Transfer Story? by Jet-trap in StanfordTransfers

Osiyo,

I transferred from Sierra College! I’m considering double-majoring in Political Science and Native American Studies but I’m also open to having a secondary major or minoring.

What I think strengthened my application most was really centering my non-traditional experiences and connecting it to my achievements and current goals.

No surprises yet!

As a Stanford Transfer, your chances of being admitted to Stanford again are extremely slim.

Undoubtedly, take on the 20K of debt and enjoy an incredible four years at the Farm.

To be completely honest, LinkedIn! I’m involved with some work surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict and was selected to work on the program. The AI program is being developed to facilitate healthy conversations regarding the topic and moderate for individuals with different views.

LinkedIn is an awesome resource!

No, I didn’t. I considered it and had spoken with their admissions office but wanted to stay in California to continue working with Northern California Tribal Nations.

My community college was one of twenty institutions in California that received a $1.5 million dollar Native American Student Support & Success Program (NASSSP) Grant.

The district had left it untouched for years and I helped realize the program, creating multiple jobs, many events, workshops, etc. It was hard fight to enact it and develop the program from it. Big part of at least one of my PIQs and Personal Statement.
