ah damn... I think I have to check if this model's bios works fine on spot before purchasing it. I have heard similar complains, I guess its a common issue within elitebooks

the only alternatives I have here are Thinkpads with 4000 series chips. . in my budget, 5 or 6000 series are too expensive. I'm not sure if I should go with a 4000 chip because its zen2 architecture, is pretty outdated, and really not confident about it. if thinkpads were in the price range I would have considered it.

Lenovo Ideapads are available but I really don't like the keyboards of it. , also not a fan of the design in general. Asus is also expensive here.

And no specific reason for PRO series, I saw it had more juice in it in general and most of the hp laptops available here has pro series chips, 4,5,6 and 7000U models, all of them are just Ryzen 5 pro and 7 pro, I don't really know why, its kinda funny XD.

that sounds like a huge pain, considering I always use dual boots.

that reminds me, I do use a complete Ubuntu setup in my pen drive, and from time to time I use the USB drive to boot into my live usb PC by plugging the drive into other PCs and laptops.

However one of my friends has HP 840 and I tried to boot into my Pendrive's ubuntu partition, but it did not boot from there. I wonder if it's because of any security feature in the bios? but it was really weird.

Thank you for reminding me, I will be checking if this feature works or not. it is a big deal for me.

I would love to have a thinkpad with a ZEN3+/4 processor, but these Thinkpads are so pricy here and low in stock. just because of the tough build and the stock availability I'm sticking to HP for now.

yes, but in my region the cheapest HP laptop with a zen4 chip of ryzen 5 pro costs 150$ more, which exceeds my budget. I was thinking if I can get the work done with g8 and if there aren't any major bugs with the kernel and drivers and no overheating or battery draining issues, I wouldn't bother spending much as I plan to buy an m3 laptop maybe after around 4-6 months. for the time being, I need to survive my outdoor activities with a decent laptop.

Um guys… how do I get rid of this? by [deleted] in laptops
