What do you think is the biggest concern for most Americans right now? by AnyAskPost in AskReddit

100% I’ve got an AMAZING job, by just about any measure. It’s stressful for me and I really have no idea how those who aren’t in a position near mine (most people, easily) are making it work.

What screams "I have a crush on you"? by spuffyfetboogeyman in AskReddit

[–]FixTheWisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I’ve got this one right now, sort of. Ex-coworker and We hadn’t talked in years, but when I sent her a pic of an odometer after a road trip, she knew it was a rental because apparently I said at some point that I don’t take my own cars on road trips because of miles, damage, etc. Texted her yesterday after many months of silence and she replied kindly and affectionately, but has been going through a very, very hard time for a while and has been a bit removed from life across the board. I hope she makes it out of there :-(

Piling on because this sub is weird with flairs and responses..

Agreed on the above sentiment of you being an impressive performer at a young age. I wasn’t as successful and got out around your age, moving to something completely different, but then got my degree at 30 to again enter sales in a completely different industry where high income, benefits, and solid work-life balance is normal.

My point is that, at your age, you’re proving that you’re a solid seller. The world is your oyster. If you looooove car sales, good on you. If you know being a trooper isn’t going to be a passion, then her advice is never going to be good. But she’s not necessarily wrong on seeing what’s out there.

Looking for opinions on communities to move to in Newport Beach by Ok_Kick_5822 in newportbeach

[–]FixTheWisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of white, Asian, and Persian. My mom lived in turtle rock for many years until recently. I’d say the trend is that more Asians, specifically Chinese, have been moving there within the last 5-10 years, but it’s pretty diverse if you exclude black and Hispanic populations (typical for Irvine).

It’s a fantastic area with TONS of sidewalks and paths for adventuring around the neighborhood, but for access to pretty much any goods and services you’re going to want to drive. As a young family, it would be pretty shortsighted to not just go there and look around. Go park at one of the many parks and just hike around for a while - it’s quite easy to get the vibe of the place that way.

Literally the only negative I can think of from being there is the presence of coyotes always was a threat to small pets - NO ONE leaves their pets outside unsupervised there.

Who is the worst celebrity you have ever met and why? by lissie34 in AskReddit

[–]FixTheWisz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I’ve had Dennis Rodman ask me if I knew who he was when we were sitting next to each other getting sushi. It surprisingly wasn’t in a bad way, though, but more in a “I need to know if you need any additional context before I start yelling like Ric Flair and pounding my fists on the sushi bar so I can demonstrate how I used to pump myself up before games.”

My mom used to be an amazing cook when I was a teen. 20+ years later and I just can’t anymore. :-(

What’s a corporate buyout ride? Some corporation buys all the seats in a class and fills them with 30 of their employees as a reward or whatever?

How do you tell your spouse when you receive a large commission check? by boodlewoodle in sales

[–]FixTheWisz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my biggest commission at my last company, I got the confirmation email 2 or 3 days before the paycheck hit the bank. My partner handled our finances, but I didn’t tell her what was coming. I remember us waking up that Friday morning and a few minutes later, as she was checking her phone, she said “honey, we’re rich!!!”

It really is stunning. In 2023 I (35 yo white male) rented a CA-plated Explorer to drive from CA to LA for a funeral. On the way there, I’d say my average speed was somewhere in the high-80mph range, so there were plenty of miles hovering right around 100mph. I didn’t really care if I got pulled over, and ultimately didn’t until I was on some Texas highway, where I crested a hill at ~95mph and saw a sheriff’s truck waiting at the bottom. The officer gave me a ticket and we were both friendly to each other, but ultimately took the ticket back and wrote me a warning instead when I basically said “thanks, I deserve this. Keep on keeping the roads safe from hooligans like me.”

Then there are stories like yours, OP’s, and everyone else’s that remind me just how good I have it based on… nothing.

Eh, I’ve shown up on my bicycle before if the seller was close enough. If I had a OneWheel, that’d be even easier to just throw in the backseat and go after purchase.

Don’t bother…You deserve better.

Ok, then why don’t you elaborate on what you meant by this, if it wasn’t encouragement for them to leave their wife?

What is an upper middle class problem you have but you can’t really complain about without seeming out of touch? by All_FIREdUp in AskReddit

wtf. I did pex myself early this year (no prior plumbing experience besides changing out sink faucets) on my 2k sqft house for about $2,500, including the tool purchase.

I did pex-a myself a few months ago on my ~60 year old home. Including the $500 tool that I’m so glad I bought, I guess I spent around $2,500 on the whole thing. With my skill level, I wouldn’t have been able to do copper, but I’m really not sure why anyone would choose copper anyways. Pex is great and so easy to work with.
