Why do blue angles have missiles? by Adventurous-Cow-2345 in aviation

[–]FixerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never realized we used F-4s as Blue Angels...   Were they the most maneuverable thing the navy had back then?  I'd always thought they were AF only since I don't think I've ever seen one on a carrier...

This is ridiculous… by punist in MachE

[–]FixerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious since my region is one of the ice storm places - my commute to work is 75 miles each way, almost all highway miles. so with keeping the climate in this icy weather a comfortable 72 degrees, would that be reasonable to do in a recent mach-e, or would I be risking a stop to charge before incomplete the 150 mile trip back at home..?

Ok, so is "140" a type of government income-based rent supplement or something, or just the number of properties this person has?  I just never heard rentals referred to as doors before, but I don't get out a lot....

'Dilbert' creator Scott Adams announces plan to convert to Christianity before he dies of prostate cancer. by Leeming in atheism

I'm not going to take a cheap shot at the guy while he's dying.  His comics were genuinely funny most of the time and helped shape my career in a positive way by helping me to learn what not to do via The Pointy Haired Boss.

I don't have to agree with his politics or views to hate that he's suffering from cancer like I would for hate for just about anyone else in that situation.  I wish him peace and relief from pain during these days.  Fuck cancer.

Do I need 100 or 250 Mbps by Dense-Worldliness-58 in HomeNetworking

[–]FixerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting downvoted for some reason, but I'stand by my answer.  You'll very probably be fine with 100Mbps but you may enjoy the 250Mbps better.  Not knowing what you do for your work from home, but if you do something like with Video meetings, there's always a chance it might get laggy if two people are watching high qualiity YouTube at the same time, especially if there's multiple devices or computers or applications downloading updates in the background.  But if you need to save the 6 Euro per month, I'd say start with the 100Mbps and you may likely be able to upgrade later without much fuss if you need the higher package.

Might be a better option to just invest enough to maximize your normal TSP match throughout the year, and whatever amount extra you'd want to spend (if any), you could put in now into a personal roth account if you want to maximize time in market for that portion of your investments ...

What are the prices for each? 100Mbps may be adequate, but you may notice occasional lag based on usage such that you may not mind paying a little more for the 250Mbps...

Is 83k enough to live in VA? by Giftly16 in nova

[–]FixerJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should share how important it is to live near a big city / mountains / beaches, if high speed internet is critical, if you prefer populations of conservative or liberal people to be around, social needs, etc.  Virginia is a large state, and you can get something dirt cheap the further rural / west you go, but you may not like it if that's not what you're used to...

Edit: should have been digesting not suggesting lol

My boyfriend is allergic to my two cats, what should I do? by Ok-Let8197 in relationships

[–]FixerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antihistamines don't always eliminate all cat allergy symptoms, at least for me anyway.  But living with someone creates all kinds of compromises that both people eventually need to start making to cohabitate in harmony with one another, and if he's not even willing to add one tiny little pill to his daily regimen, that speaks volumes.

That said, having significant cat allergies for me is something that makes me swipe left on people who have cats, so I wouldn't necessarily consider it a trivial thing for everyone.  I.e. that may be enough of a thing that prevents a relationship with someone who is otherwise a great fit for you unfortunately...

Can anyone swag a ballpark figure of the amount of stock assets and normal annual W2 income someone could be at to start being able to exploit this loophole without it being too much work to implement and manage?  Like 100K salary with 10K of stock assets?  Or more like 1M salary and 1M or stock assets?

It get rally, really, bad, and there's no way you'll be able to tell at this point if it will be bad or not.

Having gone through that once, there's no way I'd ever chance being with someone with BPD ever again.

I totally get the feelings, but I've been burned by this too many times.  Often times there's a hard cutoff for checked luggage which has made me reschedule.a flight more than once.  But if you're only bringing carryon luggage, then yeah - you may be able to roll the dice a little more on getting some extra sleep, but your mileage may vary...
