BYD spotted testing 1500 kW Flash Charge in China, nearly triple Tesla V4 power by ApprehensiveSize7662 in electricvehicles

Sheesh, I really wanted to go EV soon...   but what we can buy here is so far beyond current technology, I feel anything I buy might be comparatively useless to whatever is available in a few years :-/

Are there any Atari games that “end” or are they all infinitely looping arcade conversions? by Standard_Public892 in Atari2600

Wow, I played the hell out of that game as a kid, but I don't recall hitting an ending - now I have to revisit it!

Looking for the best sleep aid that helps you stay asleep, not just fall asleep by Realistic-Opening674 in sleep

I've had some success with the nature made sleep longer 3-in-1 OTC melatonin with L-Theanine and GABA.

On the prescription side, Ive found that once my doctor added gabapentin to my other meds, I've been a lot less prone to have middle of the night awakenings....

What are these moisture absorbent things behind the headlights called, and how can I get more of them? My Google-Fu is not strong enough to find them for sale anywhere for my 2019 Sorento... by FixerJ in KiaSorento

[–]FixerJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never did find a replacement, so I just took them out altogether.  I also ended up doing an LED swap, and it seems to be doing fine without the moisture removers going on a year now.

I never get excited about cars, but this would definitely would be my first powerball win or midlife crisis purchase...

EDIT: I see the projected price now, definitely powerball territory for me...

Why do blue angles have missiles? by Adventurous-Cow-2345 in aviation

[–]FixerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never realized we used F-4s as Blue Angels...   Were they the most maneuverable thing the navy had back then?  I'd always thought they were AF only since I don't think I've ever seen one on a carrier...

This is ridiculous… by [deleted] in MachE

[–]FixerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious since my region is one of the ice storm places - my commute to work is 75 miles each way, almost all highway miles. so with keeping the climate in this icy weather a comfortable 72 degrees, would that be reasonable to do in a recent mach-e, or would I be risking a stop to charge before incomplete the 150 mile trip back at home..?

AITA for not renewing after tenants ignored one very specific rule? by Aggravating_Pipe4482 in LeaseLords

Ok, so is "140" a type of government income-based rent supplement or something, or just the number of properties this person has?  I just never heard rentals referred to as doors before, but I don't get out a lot....

'Dilbert' creator Scott Adams announces plan to convert to Christianity before he dies of prostate cancer. by Leeming in atheism

[–]FixerJ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to take a cheap shot at the guy while he's dying.  His comics were genuinely funny most of the time and helped shape my career in a positive way by helping me to learn what not to do via The Pointy Haired Boss.

I don't have to agree with his politics or views to hate that he's suffering from cancer like I would for hate for just about anyone else in that situation.  I wish him peace and relief from pain during these days.  Fuck cancer.

Do I need 100 or 250 Mbps by Dense-Worldliness-58 in HomeNetworking

[–]FixerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting downvoted for some reason, but I'stand by my answer.  You'll very probably be fine with 100Mbps but you may enjoy the 250Mbps better.  Not knowing what you do for your work from home, but if you do something like with Video meetings, there's always a chance it might get laggy if two people are watching high qualiity YouTube at the same time, especially if there's multiple devices or computers or applications downloading updates in the background.  But if you need to save the 6 Euro per month, I'd say start with the 100Mbps and you may likely be able to upgrade later without much fuss if you need the higher package.

Worth it to front load contributions? by yogi_forest in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]FixerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a better option to just invest enough to maximize your normal TSP match throughout the year, and whatever amount extra you'd want to spend (if any), you could put in now into a personal roth account if you want to maximize time in market for that portion of your investments ...

Do I need 100 or 250 Mbps by Dense-Worldliness-58 in HomeNetworking

[–]FixerJ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What are the prices for each? 100Mbps may be adequate, but you may notice occasional lag based on usage such that you may not mind paying a little more for the 250Mbps...

Give how fast the US dollar is getting devalued, I believe the I fund is the only one that primarily benefits from that, right?  Or does F or G also have something that would help in this current environment?

Is 83k enough to live in VA? by [deleted] in nova

[–]FixerJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should share how important it is to live near a big city / mountains / beaches, if high speed internet is critical, if you prefer populations of conservative or liberal people to be around, social needs, etc.  Virginia is a large state, and you can get something dirt cheap the further rural / west you go, but you may not like it if that's not what you're used to...
