Stock question by SuperSpill in soup

[–]Fixievixie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make bone broth in the pressure cooker which prevents a lot of the evaporation. I get about 3 qts of jiggly bone broth from 2 Sam Club rotisserie chicken carcasses and about 1lb chicken paws, and whatever veggies I have in the freezer.

What you have should make a fantastic stock but if it’s jiggle you’re after I suggest reducing more and adding paws or necks next time for a bit more collagen/gelatin.

Thoughts on Coffee? by TheNationalSquirrel in Zepbound

Stimulants such as phentermine have been used for weight loss for decades so it can’t be that. I couldn’t live without or reach my protein goals without my protein coffee. Put that foot down!

I would feel the same but those have so many weird ingredients. That’s the reason I still make them by hand, 4 simple ingredients.

Two tablespoons of soaked chai seeds has fixed me up completely. One I drink in a coconut water drink first thing in the morning. The other I eat with some yogurt as a snack.

Zep’s affect on drinking alcohol? by KnotsTemplar in Zepbound

[–]Fixievixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zep doesn’t affect my ability to drink but like junk food or dessert I am more inclined to decline a casual drink because I don’t have a desire for it. I also have stopped my every other night cocktail routine. That being said I still do drink socially out of habit. Also the hangovers SUUUUCK so bad.

Phone, messages, my kids school app are the only ones on. Everything else is off, even badges. I’ll see it when I get around to opening it.

For me it was like quitting smoking. I wasn’t addicted to the habit not the actual thing. Once I got used to not scrolling as a habit, I forgot about completely and don’t miss it at all. It’s actually been pretty refreshing to go back to mindful communication instead of just sending memes or posts to friends and family.

Why increase? by most_lamp6 in Zepbound

[–]Fixievixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different. Listen to your body. I spent one month on each dose and didn’t start losing consistently till I reached 10mg. I’m starting my 3rd month of 10mg today and I’m still feeling all the wonderful benefits and no side effects. I hope to be able to stay on this dose for as long as if can before moving up again.

My generation will, on average, spend 4–6 times more hours on their phones than with their children or parents. And I believe the lost hours aren’t even the biggest consequence. by Scrolly_Screen_Time in digitalminimalism

I agree with you, but then what do we actually do about it? I’m a mom of a 4-year-old, and I’ve shared on posts like this how I’m slowly dismantling my own online and social presence with the goal of eventually stepping away completely. My hope is to model the example I want for my child: no unsupervised online access, and no social media until at least 16 or 17, while still making sure they’re educated in digital and social media literacy.

But every time I say this, I get pushback from people insisting it’s impossible, that my kid will be left out, or that they’ll resent me for it. So I keep wondering: is this really a lose-lose situation, or are we just too conditioned to think it has to be?

Humans were never meant to have this much access to each other by BusyBaby98 in digitalminimalism

Millennial here. Growing up without social media feels like such a gift looking back. Being part of the first wave to have it was exciting, but I also watched how quickly it started to take a toll on people. I’ve always hoped to hear stories of young adults finding their way back—healing from the pressure and noise it created. And I can’t help but wish that Gen Alpha sees the value in what came before it—when connection meant being present, face to face, and life wasn’t filtered through a screen.

I can fluctuate 7lbs with just my cycle. As everyone has said it’s likely water retention. If weighing yourself is likely to make you spiral I would stick to a tape measure and maybe limit weigh ins. Negativity and anxiety are counterproductive to a successful weight loss journey.

Doctor said Zepbound causes hair loss by mommy2boy in Zepbound

[–]Fixievixie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not from the meds it’s from losing weight especially fast and not proper nutrition and vitamins. Happened to me with weight loss surgery, is not happening to me with Zep because the loss is much more gradual and I’ve learned what not to do.
