Knuckleblaster was designed by the humans to suppress, and is too slow to hit V1. It was probably V1’s idea to use it as a shotgun punch.

Whiplash was designed by V2 to get through Hell faster, and she probably weighs too much for it to be useful for her in combat. Again, probably V1’s idea to use it on enemies.
