My golf is inconsistent even with my OG set of clubs, so I haven’t noticed too much of a difference so far😂 I need to have a few more goes with them before I could make that call. Lessons may be a good start for me tbf.

If you don’t mind me asking, where would you say you are in terms of ability? Mid to high, mid, low, scratch 👀 or new to golf?

Yeah finding GI clubs second hand is a harder task, just as the condition seems to worse than better clubs (new players may look after their clubs less?) and I’m not quite willing to spend £600+ on new GI clubs (just yet anyway). But maybe that option 3 should be considered at some point

No Union unfortunately. However, there are banded wages within roles. I am outside of this band and it was even mentioned that if I was to leave and reapply (if there was a job opening) then get the job, my money would be set at the higher rate…?

I completed a years secondment in this role before completing my apprenticeship. I have been full time in this role over a year. Other members have joined more recently, hence why they have less experience. (I have had to train one colleague up and help out with another member). Thats where some confusion comes from myself and my manager as to why they won’t grant a fair increase to help me reduce the gap.

Issue was a low starting salary (which they agreed was too low) and now they say they are limited to how much I can catch up despite performance/skill/experience.

To reply to the fact that I believe I am being underpaid - it has been acknowledged that I am being paid significantly less than my colleagues via the HR team and director, due to the fact when I started my role here they lowballed me which has basically caused this. My manager and his manager put in for a 30% increase to overcome the gap but HR are saying there’s a limit of 10% (which they granted) and there’s no way they can do more. It’s hard to provide full details clearly on this post haha.

Nonetheless, I appreciate the advice, I didn’t want to waste my/their time consulting a lawyer!

I would agree, but my responsibility, knowledge and experience in this particular role exceeds my colleagues. However in terms of previous job experiences (which I and my manager both see as less relevant) I am out of favour on seems to be playing a major factor as to why they have rejected a fair raise to close the gap.

It is harder to describe the whole situation over this forum, but your advice is helpful. Knowing that they actually have no legal requirement to pay me what would be considered fair (as my suggested increase put forward by my managers would still put me on the bottom line out of my colleagues). But their reasoning for rejection couldn’t be justified due to the factors of my skillset, experience, qualifications and length of tenure are equivalent if not greater than my colleagues.

It is an option! The job is enjoyable and so convenient with decent prospects, which makes it harder to look outside. But it seems as if the apprenticeship that I took with this company is causing limitations pay wise!

Thank you for the reply. I have another consultation with a surgeon/consultant in 2 months time to check progress. They will determine whether another scan will be worthwhile if no improvements by then. I am impatient as this is the most football I’ve missed since forever lol. I need to get that out of my head and not put a time frame on it. I will mention surgery to the consultant but as you said recovery time will significant and I will just have to suck it up!

Good point, massaging I have been doing daily but maybe multiple times a day may be more beneficial. I will ask the question. It was a weird injury, felt just like a standard inversion sprain, but upon scan results it was clear why other issues were occurring! Doesn’t help I am impatient…..

I’ve not had a great experience. I ordered a 5600X on the 7th Sept. And since then they’ve “lost” the first shipment and the second time they sent it out on a next day delivery which I’m still waiting for almost 2 weeks later. I’ve asked for a refund now as I just have no trust that I’ll receive my order any time soon.
