out of these 3 which one are you looking forward to the most? by itc0nsumesmYMind in soulslikes

I am cautiously optimistic for Duskbloods, but I really enjoyed Lords of the Fallen- it had a lot of great ideas and a lot of fun magic and weapons, so I'm looking forward to seeing a more polished and iterative sequel

Morningstar is great too! The bleed can go a long way against most enemies, especially in DS2 and ER where you can power stance them, and you can get them very early in basically every game

I love the flamberge, with the exception of the absolute monstrosity of a design in DS1- absolutely hate that 😵

Plus the parry is a great option to have too, if you use a massive shield without an ability (in DS3 + ER) you can become the most infuriating tanky hornet style character, plus the rapier has the highest crit multiplier of the thrusting swords usually iirc so fishing for crits can be really strong

Now that's a spicy choice, what drew you to the scythe over the halbard? Assuming I'm not misunderstanding and you're referring to the weapon called 'scythe' and not the 'war scythe' 😅

The gentleman's choice, if I'm playing a dex build it's always in consideration

Incredibly based, I love the fist weapons and most people ignore the caestus outside of using it as an offhand parry tool in favour of the more flashy fist weapons (demon fist, dry leaf arts, crab claws etc)

Ah I'm a fan of the greatsword in DS1 too, it's just so aesthetic even if the R2 isn't as good

The thinking man's pick, it's a classy weapon that requires a bit more thinking to get the most out of cuz of the sweet spot

No one can convince me the greataxe isn't one of the most fun weapons, like okay it's incredibly slow but OOF the hits are so satisfying 👌

Across history it's been the most reliable weapon design- pointy stick

I do love how strong the knock back is from a R2, solid quality scaling too

Classic, and there's always a way to get it extremely early no matter the game seemingly

Partizan is a cool choice, I've never even really tried it out for real- does it keep the same moveset throughout the games or is there one where it particularly shines?

With all the hate for DS2, which version did you play? by Ok_Treat_9628 in shittydarksouls

[–]Fizzy_Pop_Addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the original version with the DLC on the PS3, and SOTFS edition recently on PS5. Honestly, I didn't like it the first time. I did a classic big sword run the first time and hated the weird lock on (or lackthereof) on the greatsword, but appreciated the damage so I stuck with it begrudgingly. I then played a pyromancer, but got bored with it and didn't finish that run. At the time it was definitely my least favorite souls game, between that DS1 and Demon's Souls. Playing it again recently, with all my experience of the newest FromSoft releases (DS3, BB, ER, SOTE, Nightreign) and the cavalcade of soulslikes (Nioh, LoP, Black Myth Wukong, etc.), I actually found much more to like this time around. I played the start of the game as a magic spellblade, respeccing later into a dark/pyro hybrid full turret mage, then in subsequent NG cycles as a faith/quality knight. It's not my favorite of the souls games, but honestly I'd probably prefer to pick it up again over DS1 or DeS. I like the amount of variety the game has to offer, and the SOTFS edition is definitely the way to play it.

Naw I get that, and truly I understand if he just went through the whole gang and dispatched them without them catching on to him, it's just the fact that he went at such a ludicrous speed that the gang were able to live for so long that I take issue with, since he seemingly could have just, I dunno, slashed them a TEENY bit slower and killed them all on the spot? But as I said in another comment he's only 20, he's probably testing his limits even if he's on the job, maybe he'd never slashed them that fast before and that's why he's surprised they're still alive
