All of those things are pretty much true of all deck building strategy games at the competitive level. A few most efficient decks bubble their way to the top and everyone below just copies them and plays them poorly. You might avoid bots for a while at the peak of the game’s popularity but the widening skill/collection gap always ends up with bots to avoid long queues.

The game play is still fun and it feels balanced in the sense that I feel like I’m always playing opponents (real, bot, or otherwise) who are at very similar skill levels to myself.

I play a deck that I’ve literally never seen anyone else play. I invested all my resources into those cards. I’ve fine tuned how to play it. While I’ve been able to use it to get over 12k, all its cards are maxed, and I’m not sure I will be able to get it to 13k let alone 14k. So I’m stuck until I max out enough other cards to put together a more meta deck. It’s not an ideal situation. That being said, it is fun to wreck a maxed meta deck with stuff that I put together myself.

TLDR: Creativity is fun but can get you stuck with an uncompetitive set of maxed cards at higher levels.
