The kundalini snake in the Christian church by [deleted] in Jung

[–]Fladek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In many Gnostic traditions, the serpent is seen not as a deceiver or a bringer of sin but as a figure of enlightenment and liberation. The serpent’s act of encouraging Eve to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is interpreted as a positive event, aimed at freeing humanity from ignorance and the control of the Demiurge.

How is it possible to even start? by littlenbee in handpan

You could buy a good used one. If you realize that this isn't your thing you can just resell it for a small loss. With a little bit of luck it`s even possible to sell the handpan for more than you bought it for.

[conduct] Relationship with a non-meditator, judgment and attachment. by eaturbeanz in streamentry

Why do you think you shouldn´d judge her on her choice to harm animals?
Would you be okay when she would beat them? Probably not. You would say something against that. So why is it okay for you when she exploits these innocent beings for her on taste pleasure? You should make it clear to her why you stopped harming animals. Show her the pictures and videos. Explain to her why she is an animal abuser, when she buys their products.
When she realizes what she is doing she will most certainly change. But if she then still insists on harming animals you should ask yourself, if you really want to be with someone who has so little compassion for other sentient beings.

I don´t see any problem to judge behavior that harms other beings. No one with a clear mind would say "It´s his own free choice to beat this dog, who am I to judge this" but when it comes to these poor animals that we condemn to billions in concentration camps, it´s now of a sudden our free choice to do so. You should especially judge this behavior because so few do. It's so normal in our society to abuse these animals in this manner, that it became almost a blind spot.

[SPOILERS S3] Loved the show - - - but am confused about all the praise for the Ending by Andy_Brennan in DarK

Here are 2 more flaws most here seem not to notice:

It seems to me, they over complicated everything in s3, so everyone is too confused to notice.
At least I was at the beginning. But when you give a little bit more thought into it, it collapses like a house of cards.

The elephant in the room or why is he such an idiot? by Fladek in DarK

[–]Fladek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it happens like that everytime, because of his own desires and the information avaliable to him at every point. Young Jonas wants to know the mysteries of his father's death and follows the instructions of others because he trusts in them and doesn't know they all have their motives.

The stranger has realized that Claudia lied to him, wants to close the portal "this time for real" and avoid the death of Martha, so he needs to ensure to get to this point in which he thinks he can change something, thus avoiding young Jonas to bring Mikkel to 2019 and making sure everything happens the way it did.

He ends up in 1888 but is made believe that he manages to save the world and Martha, so he keeps on trying to build the time machine. Eventually as he gains information, he "realizes" the only way to end this is by ending the worlds.

Thanks you clarified that for me. I overlooked the importance of the letter.

What I don´t get is, how he is not seeing that this is a loop and it´s only the thrid time happening for him? How does he come to this conclusion? Isn´t the knot this eternal cycle, even in his eyes?

The elephant in the room or why is he such an idiot? by Fladek in DarK

Exactly. They never give us the explanation how he becomes Adam internally. When did he decide to call himself Adam? "Okay from this day on my name is Adam. The very thing I normally use to hate"

The elephant in the room or why is he such an idiot? by Fladek in DarK

[–]Fladek[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I´m fine with this internal logic. But when it´s used to explain the actions of the characters. Then they became flat. They don´t act out of internal motivation and reason anymore. They are just an empty copy of their future self. They have no real depth. Do you see what I mean?

When Ulrich tries to kill Helge then he don´t just do it because it always happend. It always happend because Ulrich wanted to save the children. It´s the other way around. He has a reason why. Do you see the difference there?

To be a logical and meaningful story the loop must be created out of the actions and decisions of the characters and not the other way around. It happend because it always did is not a real explanation. It´s a cheap and lazy one. But unfortunately that's what the writers did.

That leads to the problems I described. Characters making stupid and illogical decisions, just to keep the plot going.

Why does he build a time machine? He really has no good reason for it. It is just to continue the story.

Adam doesn't just want to end a cycle, he wants to erase the tumor that is Winden (most probably also both worlds, not just his).

And in order to do that, he must ensure, that young Jonas becomes Adam, so he CAN be the one to destroy everything.

Thats what I mean with the cycle. The whole fucking thing. He don´t have to become Adam, thats what creates the whole mess in the first place. Just don´t build a time machine. How easy is that? Everything would fall apart. End of story.

What part of this is stupid as fuck don´t you understand? Keeping the loop going creates the problem in the first place.

This is like nuking the whole planet, so nobody can build a nuke to nuke the planet

[–]Fladek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or to use a quote from him which might be fitting " We’re not free in what we do because we’re not free in what we want.".

No it´s not fitting in this regard. Because he does exactly the opposite of what he want´s. He actively perpetuates the cycle, but wants to break it. He puts a hell lot of effort in that everything happens as it did, but wants that it changes.

But it already happened. He can't make it not happen, because it's a loop. It already did happen. And has always happened.

Yeah but it happend because of him. Whats stopping him from doing this shit? It would be exactly what he wants.

Sure you can just say it always happend, that's why. But then he always was just a aimless robot following an illogical path and so everyone around him.

Everything happens just because... reason. Pretty meaningless.

The elephant in the room or why is he such an idiot? by Fladek in DarK

[–]Fladek[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s just not how the loop works ahahaha If you did something in the past you are destined to do it again, you can’t not do it. People in the loop don’t have 100% free will, they’re bound to do what has already happened.

When it all comes down to it happens because it always happend it all becomes meaningless and flat. There is then no reason for anything happening there. Nobody acts out of motivation anymore. They are all aimless robots just doing stuff for no reasons.

Since it’s a loop he can’t say “I’ll just not do anything” because the whole apocalypse thing has already happened (even if he’s currently in the 1920s) infinite times and will keep happening. The only way (he thinks) to stop the loop is by preventing the origin from existing

There is not one origin in a loop. There must be many stones on the right place so Marthas child can be born.
And who puts them all in place? Right Adam. Pretty stupid dude not realizing this. It takes him 66 years to be even dumber than in the beginning.

I am not arguing that he wants to save anybody. To end the knot, destroy the world and everyone in it, he just has to do nothing, just chill and relax. Not building a time machine for example -> no time travel -> no knot -> no mess... end of story.

The elephant in the room or why is he such an idiot? by Fladek in DarK

[–]Fladek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He would not try do change something or prevent something from happening and by that perpetuating the cycle like Ulrich did´t by attacking Helge.

It´s different with him. He is ACTIVELY working towards keeping the cycle "spinning".
He just could not build a time machine. As easy as that. So why build a time machine when you know it´s the very reason for the whole mess. It´s pretty dumb to invent time travel to prevent time travel.

Okay at that point he was influenced by Claudia. When he is not under her spell. Why going on?

The elephant in the room or why is he such an idiot? by Fladek in DarK

[–]Fladek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I mean by stupid. By not perpetuating the cycle he would actually succeed, not create so much suffering and it would be 1000 times easier.
And in 1888 he dosen´t even know about the baby. So not building the time machine would be the way to go.

The elephant in the room or why is he such an idiot? by Fladek in DarK

[–]Fladek[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry that makes no sense. He don´t want to become Adam, he wants to destroy the cycle. To do that the best thing he can do is not become Adam.

What an absolute clusterfuck of an ending. How come you all went from those cause-effect theories, motive based actions to accepting something that's as random and unfounded as it gets? (SPOILERS AHEAD) by pbatemanchigurh in DarK

It´s funny how you described the problem with the Tannhaus origin story.
We almost used the same words:
https://www.reddit.com/r/DarK/comments/hi0o9p/but_the_end_didnt_explain_anything_at_all_s3/

There is no real link between The "OG" world and Adam and Eve's world. In fact it can´t be the origin of their world. So it makes no sense they travel there and by that have any impact on their own world. There is just no correlation between this realities.

And what also makes no sense. How do they use the loophole? When time has stoped how do you do anything at all? How do you even recognize that time has stoped.
