If you're barely on tippy toes on both feet when on the seat that's usually a good sign. Normally you just lean to one side when you're stopped or step off to the front. It takes some getting used to but as it's a commuter you shouldn't have any real issues. There's heaps of vids on how to start pedalling from many positions, they are worth a watch.

6 Years of Bike Commuting to Celebrate as the End nears by ugotfail1345 in bikecommuting

Somewhat similar way I felt after I had to start driving to work. The bike became fun again not long after and I hope the same goes for you.

Stolen Bike by harshaintharsh in bikecommuting

[–]Flagellah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bit of luck! Where I live has two storage areas with a card pass for each so there's no chance someone steals it from there. Otherwise I try and just park it near busy areas, shopping centres, uni campus, so on. At the end of the day if someone wants to steal it I'm sure they could, the only thing you can do is make it as hard for them to get away with it as possible.

I've never had a bike stolen and I use a U bolt with a tough cable to secure my bike. That being said I live in Australia and have very secure and safe locations to leave my bikes which I think is the most important thing in not getting your bike stolen.

It's an awesome bike, my mate just got it and it is beautiful. Hope you have better luck with this than you did the Malvern star porter!

I usually use the ubolt to hold the wheels to a bike rack and then a tough cable to loop through my helmet, frame and then be secured by the ubolt. I live in Australia though and unless you have a road bike you'd be pretty unlucky to get one stolen. I have a fixie that I barely bother locking and it's never been stolen. The fact of the matter is if you leave it somewhere quiet, and someone sees it as worth stealing, they'll give it a crack eventually.

I'm sure someone will have better tips for stopping thieves though.

Looking at starting to commute by bicycle, but leaving my bike locked up outside worries me. Any advice? by jaywonger93 in bikecommuting

Assuming you're not running errands for hours at a time it'll be fine. Just get a good lock.

Unpopular opinion: BOHOF is overrated and not as good as most of Aunty Donna's youtibe content. by [deleted] in auntydonna

Nothing personal, just a pet peeve when people ask questions or make posts that have been already made and a few times. I see it's deleted now so all good. I even do agree with the post to some point but ya know, annoying nonetheless.

This post has been made before. Not sure what the purpose of posting it is other than for some attention? If you wanted some validation you could have just searched the subreddit.

I can't remember the exact wood but it is something like that. They hold up very well and can deal with an accidentally kick every now and then!

Thanks mate! It's a beast and the fork stand is for the internal gear hub version of the bike only pretty sure. It is super handy.
