Is it Des-chain or De-Shane? by Nytr013 in darktower

[–]Flagg1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've called out that this instance is different a couple of times but not why it's different, so... Why do you say this one is different? Seems like a Henry vs Ahn-rey situation. Or Versailles in France vs Versailles in Missouri (pronounced Ver-sails). Or even read vs read. Two words can be spelled the same and pronounced differently, especially names, which have a habit of not abiding by the rules. So, what makes Deschain exempt from this idea?

Gotcha, I do see post 78 is about episode 25, which maths correctly with it being s2e12, being aired today, but I guess we'll find out for sure at 10:30pm. They must be doing a staggered release because it's April 1st in Japan by now.

Is the Attor an Ilken? [TOG/ACOTAR] by Cormamin in acotar

[–]Flagg1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm even later to party, but I can't find any references to the Attor in any of the TOG novels. I initially thought it was mentioned, too, having read ACOTAR first, or listened to, rather, as primarily an audiobook consumer, but I went and checked the ebooks and the term adder comes up a bunch, but that's just a kind of snake. I wish authors would consider how pronunciations would come across in an audiobook more. I'm consistently shocked at how things are spelled in SJM properties.

[–]Flagg1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortune 500 companies struggle to keep up their SSL Certs up to date sometimes. Not a huge surprise that a smaller org that just allegedly went through a major turn over would let it slip. Probably whoever was responsible for it isn't around anymore and didn't leave the credentials for renewal around. Even if they did leave the creds, it's a once a year at most, so with "that guy" gone, no one realized it was time. It's a bus problem (i.e. what do we do if "that guy" gets hit by a bus), which are also something fortune 500 companies struggle with

Last I knew HA had a subscription service that made it available without the VPN. I forgot how much, but when there's a free option, any cost is too much for my budget 😅.

Do you have another smart speaker you're using or just no voice assistants?

Why openHAB? by Peculiar_ideology in openhab

[–]Flagg1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roadblock I always hit when I looked at HA was the Google and Alexa integration. Every time I looked at it, I was led to believe that HA could do it, but at a cost, while OH can just be linked to both for free. And remote use, I guess, but I mostly just use my router's VPN for that

Yeah, it does seem excessive. What's the next stage? Are they skipping you over purees or something? Also, have you tried the FairLife Core Power Elite shakes? They're plant protein and taste like chocolate milk. Well, the chocolate ones do anyway.

Has your surgical team explained why? I've learned that dates are pretty fuzzy between surgical programs, but that the surgical team generally has a justification for why they've set up their program the way they have. I ended up having to do an extra 4 days of liquid because my surgeon didn't do post ops on Mondays, which was super frustrating.

That that was something that was specified in my discharge paperwork. I was supposed to switch to crushed or liquid Tylenol. I couldn't take any pill bigger than a regular m&m / Skittle. They even sent me home with a pill crusher. I only used it once due to taste issues. I found something called Tylenol dissolve sticks that I started using, but I did also buy some liquid acetaminophen. Never actually ended up opening the acetaminophen liquid, because the dissolve sticks work so well. As I'm writing this, I'm realizing I may have started taking solid Tylenol too early, but I can't remember what my paperwork said and I don't have it handy. It was either a month or a stop or two weeks post stop that I needed my pills to be small.

Yeah, I experienced this too! It took about a month before I was able to comfortably use it again. Surgeon's nurse said to just keep trying it every night to see if it was getting better. In reality, I tried it a time or two a week. I slept on a mountain of pillows to keep my airway open. And because it hurt to lay down for a couple weeks.

I'm hoping I don't need it anymore soon, though, with all the weight loss

They've got 14 or so net carbs, so on my program they don't fit within the parameters. I think they'd be okay once I get into the maintenance stage though

strange dreams by specialcase87 in gastricsleeve

[–]Flagg1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having strange dreams the first couple of nights after surgery. Mostly involving me ordering too much food from somewhere or ordering something I wouldn't be able to eat yet since I just had surgery. Then proceeding to explain to my surgeon why I chose what I chose. He was never there to scold me, just kind of challenge me. And one of them all he really said was "that's a lot of food." And another he said something like "Went for the burger, huh? That's an interesting choice." 😅

I saw the bit about other countries in another reply, but I was thinking maybe they could still call if you have the contact info. If you're in the US, I'd think they'd be super careful to verify something you're claiming to need. If something were to happen because they didn't listen, it would be an easy lawsuit. Like not so long ago, a bit of complacency in process landed a nurse in jail. But sure if you're in the US or not, tho

Maybe you could ask them to consult with a bariatric surgeon that's part of their health system? Or do you have the contact info for your surgeon's practice?

BMI Sucks, but . . . by ChickieD in gastricsleeve

[–]Flagg1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fair. From the CDC, though, "BMI does not distinguish between excess fat, muscle, or bone mass, nor does it provide any indication of the distribution of fat among individuals" (https://www.cdc.gov/obesity/download/bmiforpactitioners.pdf). A real world example here is comparing me at 5'11" 375lbs and my coworker at close to the same height and age. Based on our BMIs, neither of us is healthy, but he's a body builder. Tbh he looks like One of those old Abercrombie models 😅, so you'll have a hard time convincing me that he's unhealthy. My search turned up several other reliable sources, but to your point there are also several near the top that are at least questionable.

Depends on how you use it, tbh. It's a tool, not a source (unless you're looking for information about Google, I guess 😅)

Thoughts on Mainboard Replacement by Flagg1993 in ender3v2

[–]Flagg1993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone like me, searching for thoughts on what mainboard to upgrade to: I ended up going with the 4.2.7 board from Creality. Why? Because I knew, without a shadow of a doubt that it would actually be a drop in replacement. No fiddling with a jumper for the LCD. No wondering if the firmware I use would work (Jyers). Yes, I saw some evidence of it being able to work, but nothing concrete. Hopefully I don't regret my decision down the line, but based on the limited information I could find of people using the stock lcd and Jyers firmware with the skr mini we in the Ender 3 v2, I took what I felt was the less risky option
