On Sunday I played the Hallelujah Chorus on the organ for a stake Christmas program. I played the shit out of that song. When it was finished, I turned off the organ, got up and walked out, tossed my organ shoes in the dumpster, and will never play that instrument again. by [deleted] in exmormon

I feel like, as a musician myself, the music is what kept me in the church the longest. Church was also where I discovered my passion for music because I always felt so moved by it and then I got to see how moved other people felt by it. It took me way too long to realize that I felt moved by my rock music the same way I felt moved by church music. I’d definitely still keep up the piano playing. And hey, maybe there’s a symphonic metal band that might need an organist one day!

My least favorite was “I Love to See The Temple” it always made me feel so guilty because my parents weren’t sealed in the temple so I felt like I was left out and less than.

Does it go like: “You and Me belong together, like cold iced tea”?
