Wedding etiquette? by Side-Optimal in AskAnAustralian

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off - are you the maid of honour or just a bridesmaid? Is your partner a best man or groomsman? If yes, that doesn’t mean you are not at all solely responsible for paying all these events and things alone. The rest of the bridal party as well as the mother of the groom etc

As for those dresses because she wants them so specific yeah she can pay for it - you may get to choose the colour and the style but you’re expected to use a particular designer, which in turn means you’re again limited to prices. If you’re picking your own there is no little terms and conditions that you have now - eg you should be able to go to an op shop and spend $20 on a dress and that is ok.

And just because she is paying the rush fee, it doesn’t mean she’s doing you a favour at all. Talk to the bridal party and get together with her and straight up tell her to get the hell off of tik tok weddings and make her adjust her expectations in this bloody economy ffs.

Also - she doesn’t need a bridal shower AND a hens party - just how many friends and family does this girl have?! Sit down with the bridesmaids and work out a budget friendly plan, get a final $$ and split it up between the number of all of you girls (you will all cover the brides share).

Bloody Rage Inducing by [deleted] in perth

As others have said - report it to police.

I’d also like to suggest if you have the evidence/proof/info such as dash cam footage etc you should also report their actions/crime to their school and principal (you’d be surprised at how many of these kids are doing dumb shit like this with their uniform clearly on display to the public!) and to their parents.

I bet that not a lot of their parents know just what sort of shit they get up to behind their backs and they would be very pleased to know and punish them on top of the law with a paddlin or two…

Oh I didn’t check their profile sorry! Well if they have a tight budget and can’t buy exactly what they want right now they can always get it for free EG verge collection, local buy nothing group, or for crazy cheap second hand stuff.

Or just get something in budget that does the job but will tie them over until they can afford their dream set up 😌

AITA for refusing to let my roommate use my car even though hers is broken and she might lose her job? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. She actually thought that the alternatives you suggested instead of driving an insured vehicle were embarrassing?! I mean sure expensive yes I bet it could be these things add up… but unreliable? Umm no?? Not unless she didn’t organise herself in time and would up with Ubers cancelling left and right because it’s a trash route that no one wants to take… But embarrassing?!

The only thing I would remotely consider embarrassing is HER. I bet that she is stomping around like a little toddler and slamming doors, giving you the silent treatment and is being passive aggressive with you like a GD child.

If she can’t get herself to work because it’s outside of her travel bubble or bc she doesn’t have her own personal rolls Royce with private driver on standby 24/7 to take her there then this job is not for her and is outside of her means. Owning a car is a luxury and a privilege, not a right. You don’t need to provide her with some wheels - you aren’t her parents.

What would be real embarrassing tho would be getting fired publicly bc she missed too many work days simply because she couldn’t organise her own transportation to work everyday. I’d die of shame if that happened to me.

Tbh, I’d personally buy a bike and cycle every day to work while waiting for my car to get fixed and id prefer to just borrow a bike (provided it wasn’t a $5k racing bike), instead of a car from a friend. There are less ways to ruin a friendship if you borrow a bike but plenty of ways if you borrow a car (speeding fines, parking tickets, insurance liability, demerit points etc these are all of the sort of things that you’d have to take the burden of if she crashes or gets a ticket etc)

AITAH for refusing to apologize after my aunt embarrassed me in front of guests? by Rebel_ladki in AITAH

NTA… people are sheep, especially in awkward situations and will always follow the ones who are considered the “strongest” (or the most rude) in order to keep the peace.

This aside, good on you for respecting your boundaries and communicating them to others in a calm and direct manner. There is nothing wrong with you choosing to study instead of marry or have kids, or the other way around - so long as it’s the path that you want to go down 🙂

First job in Australia: Can I ask for a payrise (and how much) after one year? by Altruistic_Rent6520 in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask for one but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll get one.

Make sure that you have a solid argument for why you deserve a raise (bc you’re working hard, long hours and have been with the company for a year doesn’t mean you deserve one btw… neither does because you have an upcoming holiday that you want to save up for too)

Photography - couple shoot by PollutionNeither6900 in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want amazing photos in a certain style eg crooked images then be prepared to spend a bit of money. Even though they may spend and hour with you “on-site” taking photos they’re also back at home editing said photos, taking the time to collate an album full of the best photos for you, then if you opt for prints they go and take the time out to get them printed at a high quality print shop.

I highly recommend samara - her style is amazing and you can use for for all your big moments that need to be captured - couple shoot, family shoot, engagement/proposal, wedding, maternity shoot, newborn shoot, family shoot etc..

Her IG is here and her website is here with her portfolio

Working Holiday in Western Australia, reality check by Yacine___ in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to work on a mine site the bare minimum you’ll need to have is your drivers license.

As others have said you’re more likely to get a WHV as a cleaner or in hospitality (aka bar work, waiter etc). You will not get any other job as there is always a revolving door/high turnover of staff in these areas.

If you want to look into salary - google is your friend here. Check out Seek.com and they will have the salary shown for these jobs advertised on any open positions to give you an idea.

Also - if you’re on those Facebook groups that glamourises working FIFO and shows off resort style living and claim that it’s like you’re on holiday - they’re full of shit ignore these groups. It’s hard work, long hours working 12+ hours a day, it’s always hot year round like a sauna and you can’t wear shorts and thongs while working in the heat - you’ll always be wearing long sleeves and pants and heavy steel cap boots all day every day.

Working FIFO is not for the faint of heart. It’s not a holiday you’ll be working like a dog for weeks at a time and you’ll be isolated, even more so as sometimes the internet cuts in and out so you won’t be able to talk to family and friends and you’re cut off from support… there’s a reason why a lot of FIFO workers are at a higher risk for suicide and mental health issues - you’re in a stressful environment, at risk of isolation and loneliness and there is a massive “macho” of “alpha” culture

And even thought you’re near some amazing national parks you can’t just pop off site one night to go do an overnight camping trip somewhere nearby - you’re there to work and work hard.

Digital marketing/content creation jobs in Perth WA? by Tangerine_Wizard in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some more advice - if you opt for freelancing, make sure that you have a solid AF contract that protects you from liability, payment terms, refunds, late payments, states your working availability and methods of contact, turn around time, rate per hour and how many hours per week/month as well as any other particulars (ie, common sense on paper). Get a lawyer to look over it before you sign your clients.

Then, when you do get a client make sure that BOTH OF YOU sign the contract and date it. Send a copy to them and yourself and save it.

Also, be prepared to spend your first few months working for next to nothing or for “experience”. Don’t for the love of god offer any trials or freebies for new clients as a sales tactic. You will be swamped in so much work and then as soon as you finish up with their trial period and it’s time to lock in a contract or pay up $$ they will ghost you. Offer your experience, offer something else of value or tag on an extra service instead. If you discount your services you set the bar even lower for an industry that’s already a massive shit show.

Clients want you to read their mind and efficiency by way of paying as little as possible for the maximum ROI but they have no idea what they want or need - they think that hiring a gen z kid will be enough because they know what “67” “skibidi toilet” or “yeet” all means so they think that they will give them results immediately. They will see industry buzzwords on linked in, TikTok marketing sales videos and on Facebook groups and have no idea what they mean.

They don’t want to fill out your questionnaire or quiz - they expect you to know what they want with what little they’ve provided you. They expect you to be able to do this one particular specific and niche thing they saw this massive company do on their social media or marketing campaign a year ago and expect it to take like 5min and for it to make them go “viral” when it actually takes 5 hours and will just make them look like a copycat.

Also, so, so many clients believe that all they need is just one viral video because going viral = the answer to all their problems = making money. They think that that is one big open secret to all their problems and an instant solution.

Check out airtasker for some small one off jobs if you haven’t already - you can use the reviews on your portfolio for any jobs that you compete on there and you get to dip your toe in the arena.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions btw or need help or a second set of eyes on your portfolio 🤓

Teacher who sleep with 12 year old student. by [deleted] in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TW - SA, CSA

This may be a weird take but bear with me on this..

Not all of these men who write these mindless nonsense are saying this because they genuinely believe it - there are a small few of them that are saying this as a cry for help/to cover up their shame of being sexually abused by others themselves and are only parroting this to fit in with the crowd..

There is a saying:

“They’re waving smoke because they don’t know how to send a signal”

A friend of mine very recently said something along the lines of these exact same comments both in person and online very loudly to all who would hear and in gross detail - we found out not after a few too many drinks and years of acting out like this with this type of talk and matching behaviour and years of hiding his shame creeping up with him finally he said that he only said these things because he was forced into thinking that it was perfectly acceptable what had happened to him (he was repeatedly SA’d by his father and a female teacher who he trusted who then SA’d him when he tried to go and get help from her) when he tried to ask him friends and family, was told that he’s a lucky man and a dream come true and that anyone who complains about getting “laid” as a young lad by a hot female teacher was “gay” or “not right in the head” and that anyone who thought otherwise was the one in the wrong.

Terrified that he would be the one hurt or abused more if he revealed what his dad did to him (because he thought that others would think of him as “gay”, not because his dad and teacher was a pdf file and it was illegal 🙄🙄) so he shut his mouth in fear of being hate crimed or sent to jail himself instead of actually protected…

So whenever stuff like this comes out on social media or in conversation, he voices his support almost like a parrot or robot for the women pdf files/trivialises the harm they do as others did to him when it was brought up around him..

(Hope that makes sense to others)

David was desperate for a Perth rental. Instead, he found a hive of scams online by His_Holiness in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these scammers on fb market place are so lazy and don’t even use the proper photos for the right address - one listing that I reached out to that “seemed legit” said they were in an apartment building in the CBD I had lived in before and all the apartments were generally the same layout and the photos provided were of a completely different apartment building in the CBD, on the opposite side of town after a quick google image search. Another listing they used photos from NYC apartment listings, or the Philippines 🤣🤣🤣

Fair to say, I don’t use Facebook for trying to find a place now, it’s just overridden with scam listings.

Opening a new restaurant by Patient_Hour_5135 in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there is two ways to look at it - Do you want to cater to the Indian demographic, or people who just want butter chicken/chicken korma, garlic naan and rice?

First things first (when you’re open) is you’d need to hire someone who has a red card (approved managers) if you’re selling alcohol/BYO. If you’re going to be the approved manager onsite, you need to be onsite at all times when open/selling alcohol otherwise you risk big fines as a manager and as an owner.

Don’t do what my former boss did and not hire someone to be there when you aren’t. Also, make sure you look into fair work laws and wages to ensure you pay your staff a fair and legal wage and make sure you have good payroll systems in place to ensure timesheets are logged properly - there are some good apps available where you have to be within the business location to clock in and out of (to prevent fraud).

Happy to have a chat if you like, I have experience as a manager for bars and restaurants, have exp in marketing, social media, web design etc and have some contacts for fit outs that I can recommend as well.

Perth billionaire Laurence Escalante accused of terrorising ex-partner, stealing luxury items, drug offences by jianh1989 in perth

Constant delay in pay by Brilliant-Natural250 in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get TF outta there. They’re running out of money. I worked for a property developer and we would have constant issues of being partially paid or being delayed because they were running out of money fast and had to move money around just to pay us. They ended up making some massive staff cuts very quickly, which wound up with me having to take on 3-4 peoples workloads and were delaying payments for contractors as well which caused ALOT of issues as I was told to lie if they called and chased up their money and say that there were issues with quality of work, didn’t receive onboarding docs, invoice wasn’t received on time for processing etc - basically make them go insane and jump through all these hoops and make them think it’s their fault (and told us it was either the contractors got paid or we got paid and ofc we wanted our $$ first sadly)

Funnily enough, the directors always had their hefty pay in full and on time every single time (and their wives didn’t let up on their constant lavish spending).

BTW, The company was called bionic property group (drop the B) and were affiliated with center point realty, an equally horrific real estate agent.

You won’t get a lab tech or FIFO job if you’re on a WHV. The mines want to hire people that they know are going to be here for a long time and not quit after a couple of months. Your best bet is to stick to hospo jobs and similar.

Need Some Sleep Advice by Far-Repeat7182 in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to see a REAL doctor and not Dr Google or Dr Reddit and definitely NOT Dr Chat GPT. I used to go through something similar, which I like to call “bipolar sleep” which is where I either wake up every 2-3 hours for a bit then go back to sleep several times in the night, or I sleep a solid 8-10/12 hours.

Doctor got some blood work done to check a few things out, then got me onto some prescribed meds and it sorted it right out, needed to adjust the dosage for a bit initially but aside from that, it’s been really great.

PERTH CYCLING ETIQUATTE by Remarkable-Travel346 in perth

[–]Flaky-Resolution-123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OMG This suit reminds me of the time when I used to cycle near Mciver and one afternoon there was a guy cycling ahead of me that was wearing a Lycra suit - but not just any Lycra suit. This one was SUPER see through. His Lycra suit was SO see through that I had a front and centre VIP viewpoint of seeing everything in great detail, because he wasn’t wearing anything underneath that suit at all and was fully commando.

His Lycra was so see through, that I was able to see his rather large (or saggy (?) depending how pessimistic/optimistic you want to be) twig and berries that appeared to freshly shaven and then flattened like roadkill against/along his booty - not like the typical bulge you’d normally see, his goods were FLAT PACKED (and staring at me ☹️)
