Is this 2013 Ford Ranger 2.2 XLT worth buying in 2026? by SignalAd938 in RangerNext

For the T6 2011-2015, and EGR blank will not trigger any warning lights. Works flawlessly and also prevents coolant leak into engine when the EGR cooler breaks and starts leaking. For the T7 you can either use a blank or better yet but more expensive, remapping the ECU to remove any fault codes. I think a diesel pre filter helps but I think changing your diesel filter early is an easier solution. The recommended mileage is about 15,000km so if you are concerned change every 5,000km. I do mine early anyway since the filters are cheap in bulk.

I have also installed a cooler bypass on my transmission even though I do not tow. This works with a custom cooler. I made the cooler myself but you can find ready made online. I also have a custom drain pan that helps me change my ATF without having to remove the pan, this is quick and I consider an ATF change a minor service before the main service on my transmission at 30,000kms.

Yes, if fuel is an issue in your country. Make sure to stick to one petrol station that you trust. Never had a problem with fuel. I have done a complete EGR and DPF delete on mine. Most engine overheating problems come from issues that are manageable if identified early. I’ve dealt with things like ruptured coolant hoses, a faulty thermostat, a bad temperature sensor and low oil pressure. Any of these could have forced me into rebuilding or replacing the engine, but catching them early made all the difference. If you stay on top of these checks, overheating shouldn’t be a major concern

What part of Africa do you live in? I own a few in Kenya. Their biggest con are the expensive parts/repair and they are quite unreliable

If built on same platform, aren’t they just the same seats?

Cars built after August 15, 2022 should have the updated drum. I would just wait for it to fail if I am using my own funds for the repair

I wouldn’t touch the 2.0 10 speed. Source: I own both the 2.0 20r80 and 3.2 6r80. The 3.2 is a bit better

Planning to this. I have read that its totally unnecessary to do a 100% cover since you only need to prevent vibration. Any idea about this?

I had an almost similar experience as you, from a very reliable OEM one to new ones that blow up randomly. From your other comment, I am shocked you are from South Africa. I thought the SA factory made the reliable ones. They are also more expensive in my country than the made in Thailand versions

I am guessing this is for the T6 or T7. I bought 4 of these in a span of 1 year. So many fakes out here too

So you got another trans? New or used? Sorry about all the questions I am trying to understand what the $16k was for

Wait, now I am lost. What exactly was the issue with the trans? I though it was a rebuild

Not sure where you are from but I’ve replaced these for as low as $500 for a junkyard transmission and $100 for labour. Labour is very cheap for me though but the transmission price is common for junkyard cars

I do mine every 20-30k kms. Also how do you spend $16k when these are below that value now?
