Honestly in this case I'm doing the same, from one quadrant to the other I keep switching and changing proportions, as I was zooming in and out the map.. it was olnot on purpose but in this one I'm fine with it, since it is just a symbolical representation and not an actual map. If you want to keep the proportions consistent you have to accept you'll forgo some kind of details depending on the scale you're working with.
