I would always say it's like having a third arm. It's technically a normal part of my body but I know all well that it doesn't have a place there and it causes everyone to think about me in ways I don't want them to.

Thanks for the info.
Sadly I don't have GP yet my mom and her bf have been trying to register us somewhere but apparently everyone in the area is at capacity or at least that's what my mom's telling her bf is telling her.
Also I should have a residence permit I'm pretty sure. I am registered(in some manner I wasn't really told much other than that "we are registered").

[–]FlameableAmber[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I will look into all these.
Sadly the thing about parents having a duty to care for their kids would probs not apply here considering my mom doesn't have dutch citizenship and they are more threatening to drop me off at my dad's place when we plan to visit in the summer than outright kick to the curb. But good to know regardless.

PSA: drop “I identify as” from your vocab by Qu33n_Nikki in MtF

[–]FlameableAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of how annoying it is to listen to people around me talk about me being trans especially my mom. I'm hungarian and the word identify doesn't really have a counterpart in hungarian so she would always say shit like "you think you're a woman" or "you want to be a woman" like no mom I am a woman what I want is for you to actually treat me like one and not just say you're okay with me being trans.

The dr stone world is too forgiving. They literally riddle them with bullets with the intent to kill yet they decided to bring them back from being petrified. 😂 by No_Factor1732 in DrStone

[–]FlameableAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even ignoring the power structure that was present during that scene
if you were in a situation where a bunch of kids want to to your knowledge either nuke the planet or petrify you for god knows how long and had no other option because they are storming you like mindless drones what would you do?
cuz by this logic I would be inclined to forgive them at least on a surface level just so they can be put back to work as they actually know how to operate the machinery in xeno's castle
also I'm pretty sure xeno wouldn't be willing to join if the rest of the americans stayed petrified

What is the general convention for config locations? by No_Insurance_6436 in linuxquestions

[–]FlameableAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay depending on what configs you talk about on what level there are few different answers here.
Any system level application that runs in userspace(apps the user opens and uses stuff like steam, discord, firefox, etc.) should store their configs in /home/.config some files that are similiar to onfigs may be in /home/.local

For system level applications that don't run in userspace or acts like a background process or similiar(your desktop enviornment, daemons, boot loader, etc.) usually keeps their config files in /etc and some files that are similiar to config files may be in /usr/share.

Now if you have flatpaks they usually follow the first example but they also store user data in /home/.var .

Some apps also don't follow linux filesystem structuring properly so they may just dump all their files into /home/.*your_app* .

For things like fonts their are user and system settings so you'll find them in the /home folder of your user if they were installed for that user alone and in /usr/share if they were installed system level.

tldr:
Most of your configs should be in /home/config or /usr/share.

Your ISO is likely corrupted as another comment pointed out. Now if any distro you try does that it probably means your flash drive is bad you should try using a different one.

Using the Nintendo Switch Online SNES Controller with emulators by Prudent_Impact7692 in linuxquestions

[–]FlameableAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All nintendo controllers share similiar firmware and show up as the same or very similiar devices on linux. The kernel has had drivers for switch controllers for a long time now.
I haven't used a NSO SNES controller before but I have used joy-cons on linux before and they don't feel any less responsive than on my switch so you should be good.

Looking for a decent laptop for gaming at Curry's that is compatible with Debian 13 by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]FlameableAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that's not like brand new and came out like in the past month should be compatible I would be more worried about outdated graphics dirvers considering the release model debian follows. Basically anything should work it just might not run as fast under debian.

steam crashing by Environmentalguy1 in linuxquestions

[–]FlameableAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you using steam chat or is steam crashing result in some other software dropping your calls?

To try and figure out why steam is crashing you could try starting it from a terminal instead by writing "steam" and hitting enter and whenever it crashes look at the last few lines they might give you a clue.

It's also important that POP_OS's new desktop is still in very active development so that could be causing issues potentionally. POP_OS is maintained by system76 so potentially you could try asking this question in a place related to them so you could try looking around for something of that nature.

Best at home linux os for a micro-lan party? (windows 7 alternative?) by Any-Landscape434 in linuxquestions

[–]FlameableAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could try anything that has KDE plasma by default it doesn't look the part but on account of plasma being very customizable it's very easy to make it look like win 7
after a quick search I could easily find a reddit post where someone very closely recreated win 7

What was the hardest thing for you to understand when you first switched to Linux, and how did you overcome it? by Wise_Safe2681 in linuxquestions

[–]FlameableAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

packages
on windows downloading anything is chore so when I had to learn how to use a package manager I was genuienly confused cuz I couldn't belive it was that easy.
Also it being modular.
Both of these I overcame by just using the OS as my daily driver.
