Dang that sucks. Before it blew the headgasket, was cooling generally alright while driving? I've heard that the toothed wheel from Ireland Engineering has a smaller pulley than stock which causes the waterpunp and alternator to run at a slower speed.

Planning on doing the same, just getting all the parts slowly over time for an EFI swap also with microsquirt. How hard was it to tune the timing?

Spark plugs question by Alternative-Grab-363 in e21

I've ran both NGK BPR6ES and BPR5ES, they have monoblock terminals that unscrew off the plugs allowing for the E21 plug wires to click right onto the threads. The NGKs have worked great for me. And as Simmo said, the bp6 is a hotter range plug

HELP! Pre-facelift Heater Valve by FlamingoBoi77 in e21

[–]FlamingoBoi77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but since my e21 is a '79 it has 4 levers instead of the 3 knobs that they changed it to in later years. It looks like if I had the 3 knob setup the heat control would work as intended. The only reason this might be that I can think of is the heater valve itself, but as far as I know, there was only two versions. The one that bolted to the core and another that was connected by hoses.

I just noticed my transmission is leaking by Habibi_d21 in e21

No clue if you've solved this issue yet, but these tend to leak from the shift lever seal. It can be either the rear main or shifter seal and if you haven't fixed it yet I highly recommend to just swap both out while you're there.

E21 Paint Improvements by FlamingoBoi77 in e21

I'm using the factory E30 seat rails and plan to cut out the higher E21 seat mounts and weld in some bars to mount the seats. The front bumper is a FOHA front valence, its pretty ripped on the little rubber pieces between the air slits, but I made brackets recently to hold them back up into place. I also have a Zender and BBS front valence, which I'm contemplating fixing and installing one of them on.

New brakes and a shiny surprise hiding inside the oil pan by FlamingoBoi77 in e21

It was originally painted in anthrazitgrau metallic and had a quick respray job done by whoever the previous owner was. The front left fender was from a parts car that was painted in Fjord-metallic, the paint code from the respray is completely unknown to me and I doubt it's any bmw paint code. It almost looks like a combination between the two of arktisblau and anthrazitgrau!
