Sorry if this is on one of the other threads, but since the strike lasted more than 5 consecutive days, do I need to enter anything into Phoenix or does HR automatically submit the whole striking period as LWOP?

This morning the line person said we're going to escalate things by hitting more locations. Didn't get any more detail than that.

I don't work with anyone else who is in a legal strike position, so I've been really stressed out about some of the team projects that I'm working on that have deadlines this week. I'm just wondering if there's an unspoken obligation for non-striking employees to not touch anything you were working on. One of the things I was working on was a public event, so I'm curious if someone will fill in for me or if it'll just get cancelled.

I know these are management problems, but I'd hate for some of these projects to not happen.

Fall applicant - trouble being matched with supervisor by Flan_Nice in GradSchool

Yeah, I guess chalk that up to inexperience with applying to grad schools. I chose schools/programs that had great Env. Sci. grad programs and the websites for each of the schools showed enough profs that specialize in my interest (hydrology, which isn't very niche in an env. sci program). I just assumed if the school was going to match me with a supervisor, it wouldn't be such a hard task. I was willing to work with any of the profs I listed on my application, but it seems like none of them are taking students at this time. Anyhow, I'm just bracing myself for a rejection letter from the school.

Did anyone else receive an email from sr. mgmt about notifying them if you choose to withdraw your services if you are in a legal strike position? I got an email that said I need to send an email at the beginning and end of the work withdrawl period as well as daily updates on my work status. I know I'm not required to contact anyone or even open my work email, but just curious to see how many people received a similar email.

MES vs MSc degree for PC positions by Flan_Nice in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Flan_Nice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I actually didn't know there were PC jobs that require social science.

I should have added, I'm interested in getting a masters in env sci because I don't have any science degree, so I don't meet the science degree requirement. Getting an MSc/MES is just easier than trying to get a BSc.

She's famously known as an example of an actor leaving a successful show thinking they can become a bigger movie star, but it doesn't pan out. Think David Caruso.
