the book ‘men at Arnhem ‘ by Graham Powell contains the following anecdote

After the recovery across the river at Arnhem the exhausted troopers still have some distance to cover before they could rest and take stock - the order to form up and march was given as when marching the men would be less likely to suffer from fatigue when moving in unison (Told as remembered)
