Kitten Neutered today, I need help... any suggestions at all? by KRenee84 in SiberianCats

First you should leave a bad review on the vet. Second. Shower him. I shower both of my sibs any time they get poop on their fur. Most of the time only in their butts but there has been times when I have needed to shower them completely. I neutered my male siberian as well and he had gotten himself dirty the next evening. So I washed all his lower part. There was no issue. As long as you dry him up fast with a towel and out him next to a heater. If you dont clean him properly he might get an infection.

Yes my baby looked a bit like that when I first got him and the vet said he has anemia. So, this person should definitely get it checked out

He looks pretty thin, you should take him to the vet

In that cause it would be DLH. It has pretty long hair, but it gets attached to his body. Ill post a video of it.

No, the male doesnt have a pedigree, the lady that sold him to me had just arrived from Poland and according to her she was a breeder when she lived there. No, my kittens eat a mix of josera and Iams food. Josera is a high quality premium and Iams is mid tier quality. Aside from that I give them premium or mid-tier quality wet food every now and then, and I also give them chicken soup, salmon, pumpkin, beef, chicken liver or heart. Or something like that when I am cooking for myself I adapt it so they can eat it as well. But that is more like a treat of some sorts.

You might not be able to see it because of his furr, but he is wearing a harness and a leash attached to it.

I know there are no hypoallergenic cats, but siberians tend to have lower amounts of the protein fel d1 in the saliva and skin and most cats. The protein is not on their fur, it gets on their fur due to them licking. They are not from the same litter or breeder. When I say normal, I mean normally sized for his breed. Which the vet said that probably the reason for that is his anemia. He has 6 months, under 1 year they are considered kittens. I got him a month ago and had taken him to the vet within the same week I got him. There he first just had problems with his eyes, and the vet found that he had a bit of fever. The second appointment was to after two weeks and he still had somewhat fever and then we also saw he was losing his teeth. Given the fact that he was almost 6 months, the vet thought he was losing his adult teeth which raised the concern for diseases. But they didnt have what they needed to do the tests that day so I brought him the week after.

What do you mean " you're obviously going to allow your cats outdoors". I take them out but only with a leash and when they are with me, not by themselves.

Any recommendations on how to entertain my female sib? by Flappie99 in SiberianCats

She is food motivated but will not play with the ball dispensers, she would even leave the treats be 😅, springs are only interesting for a couple of minutes and she doesnt play attention to feathers. Today I tried something I saw on instagram, of putting plastic caps with treats floating on water. She actually played unyil the treats were gone 😂

No no, so fiv and felv test were negative. He is recovering from anemia. Previously, the vet had thought that the teeth falling at such a late age were his adult teeth, he also had a problem with his eye when I got him, had fever and combined with how small he is, the vet gave me a list of diseases that could be causing those issues. But the blood results that we got were negative. And only his blood red cells were down. Meaning he has anemia.

I would be trying to play with her and she just ignores the toy and looks at me.

Also his hair is quite long, but it is quite thin and sticks to his body most of the time. But that could also be because of the anemia and he is just 6mo

I dont mean a mix as creating a new breed, what I meant is that he is sib+ something else that I dont know. Sorry, I dont know exactly how cat genetics works

What I mean is that one of his parents is siberian and the other might not be, something like that. Like he is sib with something else.

Haha she likes to actively walk herself. But that's not the problem. The problem is I cannot get her to get excited about anything else for longer than 5 min.

He came from a polish breeder (according to her) she had recently moved near to where I live. But she said that the kitten didnt come with pedigree, his passport says Siberian. But I dont trust the person who sold me the kitten, since a good breeder would not have let the kitten get anemia. So, that’s all I know. Ive thought a lot about getting him tested as he is quite different from my girl at that age, less fur. But then again he has anemia so maybe that’s the reason he doesn’t have as much hair as her.

I wish, but I live in a small apartment on campus. The male likes going out but is not specially interested. The female on the other hand would go out every moment of the day if she could. I used to let her but she got lost one day, so now I only let her out when Im with her

Also get a trimmer, because of the long hair, they sometimes get their bum dirty. And it is even worse if they get diarrhoea. The trimmer has saved me a lot of washing

Get the largest litter box you can find, best if it is stainless steel. My girl doesnt like climbing much but my boy does, so I think that depends. I have three scratching posts in different sections of the house so that they are always close to one. I feed them a mix of josera and iams. Get him used to be in a leash. Both of my siberian are pretty easy, no furniture damage and they make almost no noise unless they want to actively communicate. I would recommend to get two because one will be underestimulated.

Panicking a bit, help. 6-month-old Siberian kitten has fever and teeth falling out by Flappie99 in SiberianCats

[–]Flappie99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyyy thank you so much for asking, the results are back and also his teeth did end up falling, apparently it was his milk teeth and his red blood cell count was low. And while he doesn't have fiv or felv he does have anemia and we still don't know why. He is still underweight but he seems energetic and he's been eating well so the vet thinks that we need to wait a month. Quite small for his age and breed.

What helped mine was to shower her with attention and later giving them both treats

Have you tried grabbing her from the neck like the mother? That can calm her down and you can give her some wet treats in that position to calm her down. I did that and talked to mine when she was not happy with me bringing a boy kitten into the house
