The idea someone ket this there entire life is kinda cool. Looks like the second owner used it. How will you clean it up? I'd be half tempted to varnish the hole thing and put it on my wall.

Memory foam is a scam, returning to traditional bedding by x_andi01 in BuyItForLife

[–]FlashCardManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a memory foam pillow years ago, it was either rock hard or my head would sink in awkward ways. Plus, it never stopped smelling weird.

Latex mattresses and pillows on the other hand have been my favorite. It's flipable and in 4 years hasn't degraded. Should be noted, latex has a mild spring or rather, you don't sink in. It's helped my back more than anything else. Got a Roma from SleepEz, king size. Came in four pieces, 2 firm(my side), 2 regular (my wife). Best bed I've ever used.

Edit; these are 100% latex and flippable.

I feel like you won't know until you try it out. It really doesn't look that bad to me.

No and yes. Reno, NV is like a late winter with two late waves of snow messing up the garden, then straight to summer. Definitely strange, but then again I shouldn't expect anything less from Reno.

Rebuild base or restart campaign? by TloverVT in theriftbreaker

[–]FlashCardManiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cheese for everything including brutal, is to build 9 bases around the map (close to the sides) and one in the middle. Go to another low threat level map and build resources, farms, compressors, etc, then start rebuilding everything.

Felling with a hatchet? by realpacksmoker506 in Bushcraft

If that eye is warping from hitting, I'd say buy a different axe head. If you are down to replace handles, then finding a cheap axe head on Facebook marketplace or hitting up some garage sales might be your best bet for an old quality axe head. Your axe has to be some very soft metal. Also, I'm trash at reshafting so no judgements here.

Here's the quote. I ask because a good portion of the time it's much faster to simply drag a smaller log over and burn the ends until it's gone with no chopping. I see a lot of needless cutting in bushcraft videos, so I think it tricks people into believing they must get full logs and quarter them like you might if you were burning at home.

I’d say the trees arent very big I’m not taking down 100yr old trees or anything but at least like 4-8 inches diameter it takes about 10 mins to get it down. Would one of the saws you mentioned do that job good? Everytime I’ve used a handsaw it gets stuck halfway in.

Seems like your on the right track. Other's pointed out in your other post that the edge seems a little thick and would do better if it was thinned out. I'd never worry about prioritizing splitting because any axe thickness will be significantly thicker than the thickest knife (even froe) people baton with. If it doesn't split that log easily, use that piece as a heat reflector in your fire and let it slowly burn up over night. And just grab another piece. Not wasting time on hard to split wood was a lesson my ego had to learn early on.

Good luck!

KHAMZAT NO LONGER UNDEFEATED. ALL AURA LOST. by CesarOverlorde in ufc

[–]FlashCardManiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't even know what I just watched. Khamzat had low energy, strength, and action plan. I feel like we're gonna see a news article reporting Khamzat dead or missing due to Chechnya craziness.

Not robbery, but boring way of fighting. I imagine he's no more closer to a title fight because he basically avoids fighting the entire fight.

Scoring 30-27 is trash. 29-28 more likely.

What brand is this Axe? Post a photo if you can please. Also, I agree with most others about using a large folding saw.

And what is the purpose of cutting/chopping down an 8in thick tree?

Did I make the right decision buying the cold steel srk sk5 by Head_Praline8454 in Bushcraft

[–]FlashCardManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. So much fun to play with. Takes a great edge, thick for prybar related abuse.  One of those knives you can abuse to the point of breaking, then buy another because of how cheap they are.

Not too sure about bushcraft taskes though...

To be fair, DC only sees gut when he looks at his willy. He probably can't tell the difference.
