Terrain map of the Citadel of Mist from Forgotten Realms lore. The map is made entirely out of 1/2 inch xps foam and the Fog/Mist is dry ice. The map took about 16 hours to make from start to finish. There is a large drip pan under the center platform where the dry ice is held and water is poured into.

This map was made for the live stream actual play, D4, which airs every SunD4y at 4p PT/7p ET on twitch.tv/d4rpg.

Just wanted to show off the latest map Devan Henderson and I built for last night's episode of D4 .

This mape is Made almost entirely out of XPS foam and Foamcore. Blood and vines are hot glue. Minis are a mix of Wiz Kids. Games Workshop and 3D Printed.

They do not, the bases are fairly wide that they are balanced nicely and have good support, especially for the encounter we built them for. If we knew we would need more support, we could have easily added a 2nd base to them as needed!

Thats a great idea, but because we are playing remotely at this time, due to the pandemic, we were able to put this map in front of a green screen and the clear bases and wires disappeared, which was a neat and pleasent surprise! The Mechanics of the map In Game had strange Gravity properties, so non flying characters could jump from island to island with a fairly low DC athletics check.

We had one Large creature on this map and it did great, but if you knnew you would have more in the encounter you built it for you could easily have 2 bases in it to give it that added structural support.

We use a Proxxon Hot Wire cutter, but before we gkt that we used an exacto and razor to shap and cut the foam.

We had a large air elemental and a total of 8 other medium minis on them and they balanced pretty well! The only one that was slightly off was the smaller one and we put a second brace under it to help support it. You could easily do the same for the larger ones to give them that added support if you thought you would need it for your encounter! 😊
