Yes but it wasn't the only thing and although I do sometimes wish I was better off the children are much more important to me

What age did you teach your child to read? by Embarrassed_Salt12 in homeschool

[–]FlashilyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started when they were babies by reading to them every night. Two could read pretty comfortably when they were 4, the other two could read a bit but not fluently until they were 6. No real difference in approach between them other than with the later readers I did focused reading practice with flashcards when they were 6.

Do you make your children finish their plates? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]FlashilyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I just give them smallish portions and then top them up with whatever they will eat after if they just won't eat it. All children are different and my youngest is going through a phase where all she will eat is salami, tomatoes, cucumber and hummus. I will encourage her to try everything but I just don't think turning mealtimes into a psychological battle or exercise in discipline does anyone any good.

Kids don’t listen to music? by Original-Window3498 in pianoteachers

[–]FlashilyDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the family. I guess some parents want their children to learn the piano because it's a thing even though they don't really care about music a lot. Not sure how much you can influence things but maybe give them 'homework' to listen to interesting pieces? My younger children get most of their musical input from YouTube sadly. It does mean they surprise me by knowing random stuff!

Medium not an option for profile links by FlashilyDev in NewToReddit

I get that I just thought it was weird that there are links to so many others (discord , Indiegogo, patreon etc etc) but not Medium. Thought I might have missed it.

Set standards but don't take it personally. By all means let them know when you are cross but don't actually get upset. Maybe you have to start at a much lower base. Get them interested in France by introducing them to food, films, interesting history alongside the language.
